New to Minimins, Need Motivation Help

Hello hello.

My username says it all. I'm engaged, getting married in about a year. You would think that getting married, and my own wedding would be motivation enough to help me lose weight. Well, for whatever reason it's not. I need more will power and motivation to stop putting (a lot) of horrible things into my mouth. I'm hoping this new community will help me from eating so much, and help me to eat the right things. I'm not exactly sure what I hope to get out of this site, but I'm really hoping for encouragement, and a place to vent every time I want to eat crappy food.

Please help me gain some will power!!! Thanks!
 
Hiya, I just joined as well.. and want pretty much the same thing, finding it a bit of a mare to get round this site at mo and how and where to join in?
What is your goal weight then and what are you changing to lose it?
Its kind of annoying knowing that so many people have looked at you rpost and not answered isnt it? :(
 
I'm with you. To be honest I have no idea how this site works :) I'm really looking for someone to help me be accountable and I'm a bit embarrassed to talk to my friends and family about my struggles, and will greatly appreciate an open and honest stranger :) A goal weight is a great question. To be honest I'm not really sure, i more so have a goal range. Right now i'm 215 :( and I would like to be in the 160-175 range. I'm not exactly sure how reasonable that is in a year, but i do think its possible.

Some things I'm doing
1. Going to the gym more often (my workouts aren't very intense, i get a little embarrassed) but i feel like as long as I'm there work for 30 minutes 3-4 times a week with a nice long hike on the weekend, it's better than nothing.
2. The big thing, i want to cut my portions in half. This is where i'm struggling the most. I love food! I enjoy eating, until after i've finished my meal and i feel guilty.
3. Drinking a ton of water - I drink a lot of water, but I think if i drink more I'll help curb my appetite.

What about you, what are you looking for? Whats your goal weight? what are you struggles? How can I help you in all of this? :)
 
Hello there, any exercise helps.. I brought a smaller dinner plate and believe me it works a treat. even when piled up high I am still eating less.

The weight is very doable in a year and remember any slip ups brush yourself off and jump back on that wagon. we all have bumps in our diet roads and one or two slip ups wont ruin it in the whole.

What diet are you doing???


Congratulations as well.. I am getting married in just over a month in Cyprus and had final fitting for dress and it slipped on like a dream... and I am sure yours will too.....xxxx
 
Thanks! Congratulations to you too! I'm not following any diet in particular. I just want to have smaller portions, and eat healthier. I think that will help a ton. I love your idea of a smaller plate or bowl. I think you're right I'll eat less. What have you been doing to help yourself lose weight? What have you found to be successful? My number one problem right now is will power. I can't say no to crap! That's where i need the most improvement. Would love any advice.

Ohh I have zero willpower. Try to drink loads and keeping focused, my impending wedding was my motivation.

I try to walk more now and at a facer pace gets the heart beating.

I always have a glass of water at dinner time fills you up more and I eat slower instead of just eating I have slowed down and found that helps.

Hi I am new to the site also I am currently doing slimming world and I have lost 3 st 2 1/2 pounds so far I am goin on holiday in June and have another stone to go to get to my target really wanted to do it before my hols but just need to get the motivation hopefully this site will help xx

Firstly congratulations!!
Secondly we weigh exactly the same atm so if you fancy a diet buddy to spur you on im up for that :) I want to weigh slightly less than your goal although when i get down to those kind of numbers Im planning on re-analyzing that!
I dont know about you but i have found that sheer determination and portion control are my friends right now, also staying positive and focused helps :) hope to speak soon xxx
 
Hi! Congratulations to both of you on your wedding! My wedding wasn't an inspiration for me to lose it....I fully regretted that when I saw the photos. Don't get me wrong they were edited really well...double chin wasn't there etc but on the ones where my husband was hugging me you could see how far apart his arms were....I hate them! Anyway. I started slimming world from home on Saturday and have 74lbs to lose to get me to 120lbs...and that will still leave me in the overweight category so will prob need to re evaluate that when I get there. With the support on here we can do it. What day do you all weigh in? Hope you have had a good weekend.x.

Hi I tend to weigh in an a wednesday best day for me. When to get down in weight I will have to re evaluate then as doctor reckons healthy for me will be 11st 11lbs and the last time I got to that I looked really sick so will get down to were I am happy with.

Lets do this!!!! Honestly ! Look at my name lol NeedMotivation ;) I lost weight before i got married last year and sadly piled it all back on. Wanting to be slimmer than I was before marriage! Btw, congratulations!!!!
 
I put at lot of weight on when married. Lost some when parted and now I am finally happy with my soul mate and the weight is shifting. Marrying at the end of this month and will not make the same mistake I am enjoying the new me.

Together we can do this x
 
What sort of week have you all had? I have weigh in tomorrow but I have stuck too it until tonight when I was baking for kids and accidentally popped a couple of bits of chocolate into my mouth...don't know how that happened?!
 
Not had a bad week but was naughty the bank holiday but back on today and not beating myself up as its only 1 day out of my journey
