Hi!!!

Hi, just joined as I am determined to loose weight this year.

I will be joining slimming world on Jan 6th and would love to chat with others who are trying to loose weight too!

I have also joined ********* and will be posting pictures to chart my weightloss highs and inevitable lows :)

Hi Sam,

I'm with you, I'm also determined to lose weight this year. I'm starting my diet on Monday too, but I'm going to be starting with shakes as I have so much weight to lose and then move onto slimming world when I have finished the supply I have.

Would be great to do this together :bighug:

Hi Skinny! You can do this! Can I ask roughly how much you have to loose? I think I have about 8 stone.

That a whole small person! It seems like such a huge mountain to climb - but the sooner we start, the sooner we reach the top!

I think I'm going to set myself a target of 5 or 6 stone. But really I need to lose 10 stone to be in a healthy bmi range. I figured lose half my target and then set a new target for the other 5 stone.. haha less daunting, at least that's my thinking.

I also know I'm going to struggle with exercise as I have a slipped disc in my lower back and so I was thinking of taking up swimming, but between my kids and work it's finding the time to go. Although shouldn't be a problem at the moment as I'm on maternity.

Do you have kids..? What's your plan for exercise?

I think for the weight I am I shouldn't have to exercise firstly, but I feel like I should.

xx

Good idea to break it down. I think I'm just going to do it stone by stone, otherwise I'll just get overwhelmed.

I have one daughter who's 14 and I only work part time so I have time to exercise - no excuses. I'm going to start off by increasing my walking. It takes me literally 3 minutes to drive to work, and I drive every day, how bad is that?! I think I'll do that for a month and then try and swim for an hour a couple of times a week.

Sorry to hear about your back problems, back pain can be really dibilitating. I have a problem with my knee which I'm having physio for, and problems with my shoulders. I get back pain too but I think it's my weight that's making it worse.

That's a very good idea to do it stone by stone, I might have to steal that idea.. LOL

Sounds like a plan to walk to work, nice bit of exercise for you. I'm thinking swimming would be good for me, it's just getting the energy to go. I have 3 boys who are 5 years, 2 years and 4 months old.

When I do go back to work I work 3 days a week, but it's in London which is sometimes a 4 hour commute there and back, so there's no way I'll want to exercise on those days.. haha

Yeah my weight is definitely not helping my back, it's time to get this sorted plus i'm sure hubby would be very pleased if I managed to lose some weight. I put most of mine on when I gave up smoking 7 years ago..

2014 is going to be our year... I know it!!!!! :worthy:

Skinny you're exactly what I need - a positive slimming buddy!!

Swimming would be good for you especially with your back problems - you'll be supported by the water and it zero impact.

I can imagine it will be hard to find the time with 3 kids, especially as they're still quite young, but even once a week to start with would be so good for you.

Whereabouts in London do you work? I'm in West London. Good public transport links so really no excuse for me to drive everywhere!

What's your biggest vice food wise? What will be most difficult for you to cut back on? Mine will be crisps - I'm totally addicted!

I'm in central London or was or will be.. hahahaha whichever way you look at it. I'm right behind fleet street.

Mine is also crisps, and cheese, omg I love love love cheddar cheese I can't stop eating it... it was my craving when I was pregnant and everything... can't even not buy it as my middle boy loves his cheese too.... must be strong whenever opening the fridge door.

So it's our last night before the diet starts tomorrow, what are you treating yourself too..? I'm having a take away pizza and loaded potato skins :)
