Third time's the charm... And Hello from Kansas!

Hey everyone! My name is Laura-Jayne and this isn't my first time using MiniMins - in fact, it's my third (bet you couldn't have guessed that already!)

I used to frequent this site quite a lot a few years back, and it was a massive inspiration, offering daily motivation and played a huge part of my weight loss journey back then. I'm not sure if any of the people I used to speak to still come on this forum (or even remember me) but they changed me a lot, and for that I am thankful.

Anyway, a lot has changed from back then - I met an amazing American boy online who was crazy enough to meet up with me; two years after this we got engaged and then in November last year I took the massive step and moved to Kansas, USA, to finally be with him! On January 25th 2014 we got married, and here I am being a stay-at-home wife in America's heartland!

Well, America is a very easy country to let eating get the better of you, and boy did I let it get the better of me! By 2012, I had dropped from 183+lb to 139lb. 2013, I was averaging 140-149lb. Since getting to the USA, I have hit 169lbs and it's time to stop. I'm now at 166lb and I decided it's time to go back to Old Faithful - Slimming World.

So here I am. Back on track, signed up to the US Slimming World and introducing my lovely husband to the world of enjoying a bazillion fruit/veggies a day (slight exaggeration there...)

I can't wait to make more friends, and hopefully help motivate people on MiniMin's - weight-loss motivation aside, being at home all day every day (I'm not allowed to work for a while as conditions of Visa) is extremely difficult, being only 25 and without any of my family. I'm just annoyed at myself for not coming back sooner!

Anyway, if you've made it this far, I applaud you for not getting bored somewhere in the middle of my ramble.

Love,
Laura-Jayne x

Welcome back, and wow, that mustve been a big step moving to Amerika, hope you enjoy it over there, must be a bit boring not being allowed to work, i hope you find something other to occupy your time with :)

Thanks!

It was the scariest thing ever! I'm so close to my family, it's been really difficult because I had to leave all family, friends and my job behind. Plus, I can't drive which means I'm pretty much stuck in the house until the husband finishes work! Still, once this eternal winter is over, Kansas gets extremely hot so I'm sure I won't complain too much then ;)

oh thats lovely atleast you get some great summer weather.
I moved from Sweden to England 2011 and got married last year, it was scary but exciting, and its just 1.5 hour flight to visit family :)

Oh, lovely! How do you like the UK? Where abouts did you move to?

At the moment it feels like summer will never be here. Over Christmas, it was as cold as -37c, still around -10c now! :( In 2012 I visited at the end of March and it was 28-30c!

Oh i love the uk, actually like living here much better than i did in Sweden, i was depressed alot and generally unhappy, and now im a very happy person, might be because of hubby tho :)
Im in Hampshire.
Oh yeah you had that freaky cold weather didnt you?

Aw, well that's good to hear - glad you like it there!

Oh yes, we had around 12" of snow one weekend, but with such cold temperatures it stuck around for ages... and then we had one random day where it got up to 19c from -10... I don't even know how the weather can jump that much! Haha x

oh that mustve been quite a shock to the system getting that cold, then warm then cold again.

dont know if its to personal, just a bit curious on how you and your hubby met?

Oh, not personal at all!

We actually met on Twitter! We were both into the same band, they followed me and told their followers to follow me and he did! I was dating someone else at the time (a horrible person, I might add!) and as soon as we broke up, Stephen decided to see whether anything would come from our friendship and flew out to see me! We got engaged a year later (July 2012) and then in November 2013, I moved to Kansas. We got married January 25th this year - but we'd seen one another 14 times in the two and a half years before I moved so luckily we got to spend a fair amount of time together considering the 4500+ distance! :) x

oh thats brilliant!
met mine thru a game we both play and after almost 2 years we decided to meet and i came to visit and then visited more than i was home lol.
internet can be such a wonderful thing eh :)
