First week

Hi and welcome!

There's loads of good tips and advice on here so just have a look around, you'll be hooked in no time!

My top tip would be to do some exercise along with whatever you are doing food wise (even if it's only walking like myself). The main benefit is the obvious one of burning more calories, but the second benefit for me is that if I've done a big walk I am much less likely to cheat with my food as I know how hard I've had to work to burn the calories and don't want to undo all of that hard work for the sake of a few minutes of eating.

The more exercise you do the easier it is and the more you actually want to do it. Exercising releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel good, and in one month I've gone from being a total couch potato and the laziest person I've ever known to someone that feels a bit edgy, or as if I've missed out on something if I haven't been for my long walk. A walk that I first did around 3 weeks ago (6.4 miles) left me so stiff and aching that I could hardly walk for about 5 days after it. Today I've just done 7.8 miles and after a nice hot bath I feel fine and will be back out tomorrow.

other than that I'd say drink plenty of water or at least stop drinking fizzy pop if you drink much of it. Also I've cut bread out completely from maybe 8 slices a day. Look at how many calories are in everything you eat and you will soon realise lots of foods aren't worth it in terms of how much of your daily calories they take up
