New Cambridge Dieter

Hello!
I am Emma and I am currently preparing to try the Cambridge diet for the first time. I see my consultant on Monday but before then I have started cutting down on the carbs. Have also been getting used to tea without milk.

My husband goes back to work in the Middle East on Sunday and won't be back till the end of March. Haven't told him I am doing this, am hoping to surprise him when he comes home ?

Hi Emma,

I'm new too - am starting on the Cambridge Diet tomorrow (am seeing the consultant this afternoon - and am feeling an unusual mix of nerves and determination). Also been cutting down on the carbs in preparation - so hoping not to feel too headachey in the first week.

Quite a big thing, doing this without telling your husband - but I imagine the surprise on his face would be an amazing pay off :) Hope you've got some support/cheerleaders around too, though :)

Good luck for next week!

Hi Brightside!
Good luck seeing your consultant.

To be honest I think it's easier for me to do this with my husband being away. Not here to tempt me with sweets and alcohol.

I have a group of friends that I meet with on a Wednesday morning in a cafe. We also chat through a group on Facebook. I wasn't going to tell anyone about going on CWP but decided to tell these ladies as we are meant to be going out for a late Christmas lunch this month and I now won't be going. Am really upset with their reaction and just wish I had stuck to not telling.

Good luck again!

I can see how the lack of temptation could really help :)

Sorry your friends' reaction wasn't good. I'm nervous about telling people in case I get any negativity, so have been a bit vague :s

It's silly how people can have a strong reaction when it isn't their body or life. It sounds like you're doing something awesome for you.

Well, I saw the consultant and she was lovely. I'm stocked up with products and I start tomorrow. Fingers crossed :)

Good luck for Monday!

Sorry to hear your friends reaction were not how you had hoped people are funny sometimes. I'm on day one of Cambridge and it's been a doddle really. I have done it before but that was a long time ago so my only words of wisdom are just focus each day rather than look at the whole journey. Good luck xx

Hi Keen2change!
Today is the day!!!! :)

Hi Emma and Keen2change - hope your first day is going well :) I'm on day 3 today ... first day back at work (I've been running a one day workshop so am pretty exhausted - but managed to avoid the biscuits on the refreshment table and stick to water, herbal teas and my cranberry crunch bar). Just on my way home and feel super-tired, but also proud of myself. I'm speaking at a conference this week, though, and have a conference dinner to get through. Have a step 2 plan which involves being there but completely avoiding alcohol, carbs and any sauces with the meat ... but it'll be a real test of willpower.

How are you guys for headaches? I've just had a few, but nothing major. With all the water I'm drinking my major issue is needing to pop to the loo every 20 mins

Hi Brightside, well done for avoiding the biscuits!!

I am doing ok, was already carb depleted so today hasn't been as hard as it could have been. Not sure I like the tomato soup but loved the mint choc warm like a lovely hot chocolate:)

I have had a couple of little niggly headaches but nothing too major.

Have to go to work tomorrow so am hoping I feel ok x

Hiya guys, wow i feel for you Brightside having a dinner but you sound very positive so i dont doubt you will get through it :) day one has been ok to be fair, manic day at work but made it through ! Only thing i miss right now is my cuppa! I drink decaf anyway so no headaches yet but miss it :(

Can I join you ladies? I started yesterday, but I didn't do the prep work (cutting down carbs for few days) and suffering big time... was so bad that I gave in and took an apple tonight  :break_diet:

Not going to beat myself up on it... but I won't expect a big loss for week one at my WI on Saturday.

It couldve been a lot worse than an apple to be fair :) how you feeling today? I slept for about 9 hours last night! Just lost energy at about 9.30pm lol

Hi Emma, Keen2change and Vee's Girl: Nice not to be alone in this - how's it going with you guys?

Emma & Keen2change:

Really glad you've not been OK with it - hope today's work day was cool too. My first day at work was exhausting, but today (day 4 on the CWT) was pretty good. I feel like I've got a bit more energy and no headaches today (yay!). I'm now sat in a hotel room at the conference feeling good about surviving it tomorrow. The only tough part will be the evening social/dinner, but I've been on it 100% so far so really don't want to slip.

Vee's Girl: Welcome :) Like Keen2change says, an apple is pretty good considering how you were feeling. When I used to slip off the diet wagon my slips were much more intense. I hope you weren't too hard on yourself and today's been a bit easier.

How's everyone doing? Day 3 and it's my birthday! I am having a breakfast in bed of black tea and water :)

have a skinny day!!!

Aww Happy Birthday Emma! U got any plans for it?

Day 3 for me too, again was in bed early last night, hoping today isnt as bad as everyone says day 3 normally is ....

brightside im so impressed with how well youre doing! Talk about obstacles on your first week but hey goes to show what will power can do!

No plans, hubby away and my family live miles away. Thing about early January birthdays is everyone is socialised out from Christmas, just gonna stick to my diet.

I feel better today than yesterday. Just about to talk the dog for a walk, she didn't get one yesterday!

Yeah my mums birthday is next week ! im more energised today than yesturday but then its early yet lol. hoping the level gets higher as been pretty useless in the evenings :)
