Struggling for motivation

Hello, I've been trying to loose my baby weight for 2 years now but just can't stick to anything food gets the better of me or I end up hating healthy food in the end my daughter makes it hard for me when I try to excersize as she always jumps on me interfering I'm getting so annoyed with not fitting Into any of my clothes but just cannot find the motivation or enough time to do much any advice?

Hi there :). Motivation is hard to find, however is key to losing weight. Try just do little things at a time and see it as an achievement. If things don't go to plan one day - don't write yourself off, think about what caused it and get back on ?. We're in it for the long haul but we will get there in the end. Also joining this forum is a great start as I am sure you will find like minded people online :) all the best and keep positive

Thanks for replying, where do you find your motivation and not let chocolate or pizza get the better of you?

Well first of all I try to avoid the Isles in the supermarket that contain it (which is hard this time of year). On the diet I'm doing (slimming world) I'd have a lot of free food instead of junk food and make alternatives. For example, there is a recipe out yo make a pizza with a potato base. Also, if you can't cut them out completely first, just reduce the amount, your still heading in the right direction - it might take longer but there's no rush! You'll do great :)

Oh I really feel for you! Motivation is tough but think of this - what will happen if you DON'T lose the weight? And you don't have to go completely cold turkey overnight. Try to make little changes that will eventually make a big difference a year from now. Plan your meals and stick to a list. The thing that stops me eating biscuits is not having them in the house! Can you include your daughter in some exercise like taking her in the buggy and going for a walk (try to find a hill)! You sound like you're giving yourself a hard time too - try not to. What would you say to a friend if she was in your position? Try saying that to yourself. You'll be ok - one day at a time. If it was easy we'd all be Victoria's Secret models! good luck x

I think the harsh truth is that only you can do it for yourself and only you can motivate yourself. I know from personal experience that when my head is not in the right place there is no point trying, yet when I am in the zone it's easy.

So how do I keep myself motivated? Well the truth is that I don't all the time. Sometimes I fall off the wagon, but I always get back on.

I'm also doing slimming world and I highly recommend it. You can eat loads but still lose and I found that going to the group gave my motivation a much needed boost. I also keep my motivation going with weekly sessions with a personal trainer which is a luxury but for me really works. I also spend lots of time on here with supportive like minded people and set myself small goals and join in with challenges. Finally I spend a lot of time in the before and after galleries. I know that other people have done it and I know I can too :)

Hope this helps. Start today and you could be half a stone lighter by easter☺

Thanks for the replies! Think il stick to this forum ? I'm having a good go today started breakfast off by some brown bread toast and fruit, what does everyone think of slimfast? I tried it for a little while but not long enough to see results as I forgot I had it then it went out of date lol, I'd love to excersize with my daughter but I most of the time have back problems and pushing her heavy lump around just aggrevates it, plus I'm unwell atm so no excersizing will get in just yet but I will be doing a food shop today let's hope I don't come back with Easter eggs!

Well done on the breakfast - sounds like a great start. I would say just be careful with Slim Fast - a lot of sugar which will give you slumps and is not great on your system but better than a packet of crisps!!! Good luck with that food shop and hope you feel better soon.

I red that someone had just had one slimfast shake every other day and still lost weight so I won't be having everyday, food shop went ok got more fruits to make a smoothie ? And chicken salad for dinner hopefully this is the new me and il be able to stick to it

i find that depriving yourself of everything only makes you want more of something..if you feel the need for chocolate then have some and don't feel bad about it.obviously if you sit down and eat several bars then that's not going to help your weight loss!!!! Loosing weight is difficult. If it wasn't there would be a world of skinny people. Love yourself and take each day as it comes. If you fall of wagon then it's not the end of the world. We wouldn't judge you. I have a pair of crop trousers I bought last year and never wore. They now do not fit me. I have them hung on my bedroom door as a reminder why I want to be slimmer. Good luck
