    Another Newbie

    Hello - another newbie here.
My name is Emma - I am 28, live in Windsor with my hubby & beautiful 2 year old girl.
I need to lose some serious weight (9 stone) & thought this forum might be able to help.

I have tried most diets (ww, sw, LL, CD & quit due to monetary constraints) but am determined to get the weight shifted this time... main reason - I want to be a "yummy mummy" not a "tummy mummy"!

My doctor has offered to help by prescribing Xencial for 3 months to see how I get on. Anybody else been subscribed this? If so, what type of diet are you following? And what forum do you generally tend to post on?

Also, just noticed the link at the top of the forum for Diet Chef - looks like a great idea to get me started - does anybody use this? Whats the food like?

Guess thats all - Be happy.

Hi and Welcome to Minimins. I tried Xenical last year and it didnt work at all Im doing WW and my doctor said that basically my diet is so low fat as it is theres nothing to get rid of. I think Xenical works best as a deterrant, youre so damn scared of the side effects you eat healthily and lose weight lol

Starlight - I think your right... I've only been on it for 2 days, but I am petrified of the side effects!

    Hi Emma and welcome!
JUst to say I was prescribed Xenical and had been taking it for about 6 weeks and had only one occasion when the dreaded side effects kicked in and that was simply because I had eaten too much fat in my meal., I learnt a lesson from that and was fine after that. I find it really helps me to think about what im eating and I think it does help to speed up weight loss too. At the moment I am having a break from it and am quite missing having to take it actually - I've only come it because i had a blood test and it showed raised liver enzymes and the GP wants to rule out Xenical as the cause of this. If when i have another one it shows no difference she says I can go straight back on them. I also go to RC clases as i find someone else weighing me helps and am loosely following their diet although it is basic healthy eating low fat plenty of veg etc and trying to keep to a calorie allowance.
There are a few others on here aswell that are taking Xenical at the moment but I dont think theres a specific se ction for that. I think a few have diaries on here and I have found that quite useful aswell.
Anyway sorry for waffling and I wish you all the best with Xenical and losing weight, please keep us posted!
    xx
