    Jigsaw diet - questions

    Hi all Jigsaw Unit Dieters

I have read all your posts with interest as this seems like a fantastic new diet but I can't get much info from their website at the moment so I was wondering if I can bother you with some silly questions???

Do you go to a class? or did you opt for the membership with email & phone support?
Did you go for the starter pack with no additional support?
How easy is it to follow? What are the average losses? Would I gain going straight onto it from CD?

I am on CD at the moment but don't feel that this is a sustainable (sp?) long term diet, don't get me wrong it has been fantastic for me and it definitely did what it says on the tin, but as I work my way through the stages I need to find a different plan that will work for me. I have tried WW and SW before and wanted to try something new.

I am also finding it so hard to lose the last stone on CD.

Sorry for my nosey questions. Also sorry to lou-lou for posting this in her diary thread my mistake.

Hope you all have a good week

    Lenny X

    Hi Lenny

The only classes at the moment are up in Cheshire so i've opted for the postal pack but with no additional support as if i have any questions i will ask people in here or on the jigsawslimming forum.

I can't answer questions on the average losses as my pack only arrived in the post yesterday but i've heard very good things.

Coming off CD and onto this i would imagine you might put some weight on as your going from very low calories to a hell of a lot more but your body will get used to it.

I lost 3.5stone on the LL plan and then put it all pack on plus more once i started eating normally again.

    Hi Lenny

I went for the starter pack because it was half price! I have had to ask the jigsaw staff a few questions and they were really helpful even though I wasn't part of the full membership.

I would assume you might gain in your first week following the unit diet as there is so much food available to eat. But I think that the second week your body would adjust and you'd start losing again. It is really disheartening to gain weight but if you are trying to form a normal diet again it might be worth it. Have you tried working up through the cd steps?

    Good luck whatever you decide

The last stone is my bugbear too, taking for ever to make it go. Leaving CD is scary, you need to find something you'll be happy with for maintaining or the weight will creep back. Is there a maintenance level on the unit diet, like maybe 13-14 units instead of 10?

Yes, there is. I think you up the units until you stop losing. Ouch though. Being on a diet forever, even with more units doesn't really sound an ideal way to go. I wouldn't like to anyway, but I know some people are happiest when they are on a diet So whatever suits eh.

I aksed about maintanance as it's something that scares me...whenever I get there They said that they send members a maintanance book expalining how to maintain weight and how to do it with as little effort as possible. However, the lady I spoke to said that the majority of members get to goal and stay at goal without the maintanance plan as they rebuild a proper relationship with food along the way. The diet re-educates them to eat normally. The plan though is that you reduce zero foods as you approach goal weight, they give you a list of what to reduce and to what quantites. Then you increase your daily units slowly from 10 to ? Whatever number of units your body settles at. A girl I met on another forum is maintaining her weight on 18 units, so I hope i'm the same as her and not having to maintain on 6 units

I think if you maintain on 15'ish it would be quite easy as you learn what are high unit foods and how to choose low unit choices on the diet.

    Thanks for all your replies

I have taken the bull by the horns and ordered the half price pack and the e-100 day books.

I will have a read through when it arrives and decide where to go from there. My twin has just had to give up WW due to finances so I might see if she wants to give this a go with me and we can have our own mini class with WI once a week at one of our houses.

Just another really silly question...when you have cereal (for example) how much can you have???

    Thanks for all your help

Take care and good luck this week

Cereal (unless weight is specified as with some of them) is what makes you comfortably full. Obviously don't go mad, but you can have a decent bowl of frosties with skimmed milk for 0 units

I got all my stuff by email yesterday. At the moment i am a little confused - but hey that doesnt take much

I started today and am so happy to be eating normal food again after my nightmre of trying to do CD and failing so many times! - oh to have more will power.

Anyway at the moment this doesnt feel like a diet at all - i've just had 2 cinnamon and raisin bagels with jam on (5 units) and only had this as i need to use some units up!!

I agree on all you have just said, the last stone is really hard to move and leaving CD is scary, I think that is one of the reason I have slipped up put a few pound on and then gone back to SS.....
Mind you this time.................. I am going to try calorie counting or weight watchers and mix in the CD meals when I return from holiday. I think that way I avoid the SS again and I can't face the CD plans as a weight loss at the minute. Great for stabalizing weight and doing the last bit, but to go for them just for weight loss there isn't enough choice for me.

I have never heard of the jigsaw diet until today, I will have a look out for it.
Good luck with that last stone.

Boofaloo: Glad there's another Jigsaw dieter here, we're forming our own little gang I think i've met you on the cd790 thread (or I might be wrong??) I tried cd then tried cd790 but couldn't stick to it, I wanted to follow it badly, but felt shaky all the time. I have had 2 good losses on TUD (the unit diet) 7˝lbs in week 1 and 2lb in week 2, i'm really happy. It took me days to get to grips with the diet. I think after doing loads of different diets it takes a while to take it all in, but i'm happier now following this diet than I have been in a long time. Good luck

Lenny: Another Jigsaw dieter, yay Hope your pack arrives soon.

Chitty: I know what you mean about leaving cd being scary. I didn't follow cd for more than 3 days () but I had mulled it over in my mind for weeks before starting. I'd worked out what I wanted to lose and over what timescale. Switching to a slower weight loss plan scared me cos I know I wouldn't get to goal for my holiday, but I thought that i'd rather get a stone off eating normally, than mess myself around on cd stopping and starting to get 3 stone off but then regain a stone when I eat all my holiday food. I know that cd is great, and i'm not knocking it. If you follow the maintainance plans you won't regain weight, but I had no intention of taking cd packs on holiday with me. Good luck with whatever you decide to do

LOL no I have no intention of taking my cd meals on holiday with me, the only thing keeping me going is thinking of all the yummy food and drink I can have on holiday. Don't get me wrong I am not going to eat 24/7 or have 5 courses at each meal, but a little bit of what you fancy on holiday is just what the doctor ordered. After that I'll see what damage I have done then lose weight without going on SS. I am hoping my bmi will be to low to SS when I get back anyway. Good Luck with your jigsaw diet, I'm going to look at it now...

Yep that'll be me faffing around with 790 etc!! I so wanted to do it but couldnt last more than 3 or 4 days! I ended up picking at bits and then just went on a full on food rampage!!

I thought alot about the slower weight losses and it does bother me a bit. What made me decide was the fact i've supposedly been doing CD for about 4 or 5 weeks and hadnt lost anything cos i couldnt stick to it!! It then dawned on me that slow losses would be better than no losses!! Doh!!
