I don't get it, you have had brilliant losses here, surely they should be happy that you've got your groove on to something that's working for you!!

To be honest I blame vlcds for my tummy problems. I developed really bad constipation (common complaint) and now can't really go solo and get bloated with bread etc.

    17 lost : 50 to goal

Go to the meeting, no harm in that BUT see a dietitian before you get started on any VLCD I can no longer do them because of the high protein content as I have damaged Kidneys, Stef on here is losing her hair, a girl I know from the School had this happen too!! So yes they are a solution for some and weight loss is quick but they are not without their side effects, I am not saying any of this because I don't want you to leave Juddd I am saying it because I care and you have done so well I don't want it all to be in vain or for you to start something that In my humble opinion you don't need xx

I couldn't agree more with you- If they think I need it then surely they only think I need it to get to just over 11 Stone?
I told them I wouldn't give JUDDD up I would like it for the extra few lbs and maintenance as I think its wonderful!

I really don't want to lose my hair or become unwell

I know you all care and I really do feel so loved- I feel like being naughty and ignoring it!!!
However I don't know any other 21 year olds with as many health complaints as I have :/

And I don't have the choice of foods, any alcohol or flexibility :S

Pros/cons- I need some scales to weigh this out!!!!!

Thanks Jo- you're worth your weight in gold to all of us!!! We love you

IMHO, having been on and off vlcds for about four years, started at 12.4, at the beginning of this year, I started dieting at 14.9... So they don't work long term for me (but def short term).

But, that said, they work for some and you have to do whats right for you And I don't think a doctor or a dietician can help. A dietician will probably tell you to calorie count, eat your 5 fruit and veg, and cut down on processed food. Unless you have a specific illness they tend to tout the government advice. A doctor might be able to tell you what not to do if you have a specific problem, but the body is so complex and they tend to have their favourite plans. (I'm obviously generalising here, but in a five min consultation they can rarely get to know your needs).

Personally I think you need to try different stuff, whatever that might be, and listen very carefully to your body. Sod everyone else, if you feel good, continue, if you don't, try and work out why.

Since the beginning of the year, I tried calorie counting, 2 vlcds (lighter life & slim & save), dukan, Atkins and diet chef, until I found paleo and juddd. For each of them there were elements I liked and elements I couldn't work. Even now, I'm playing with juddd coz 500 cal DDs don't really agree with me.

If you try a vlcd and don't get on with it, you are not failing, you are learning. Keep your diary so you don't go round in circles but progress. Above all, good luck. We have faith in you.

And sorry for the insanely long post xxx
