JUDDDing for life!

Hi,

have been looking into the JUDDD diet and following the posts on MiniMins for a few weeks now and here I am on my first DD.

Far too much of my life has been spent dieting and then binging to regain all the weight & a little bit more. Recently I have dabbled in Lipotrim & Exante thinking that this would be a quick solution to my weight problem. The initial losses are great but I just haven't got the willpower to keep it up & live a life at the same time. If I meet friends for coffee I want to be able to enjoy a piece of cake, meals with my husband, ice creams with my children, etc...

Hopefully JUDDD will be my ideal solution! All socialising & treats to be planned for UD's.

My allowances are 398 DD & 1992 UD. So far I've had some lean chicken breast for 125 cals. Going to have to juggle this week around a bit as we are going to Alton Towers on Friday and are staying in a hotel nearby on the Thursday night. So my week looks like this:
DD - Sunday
UD - Monday
DD - Tuesday
UD - Wednesday until 6pm
DD - Thursday until 6pm (to allow for meal in hotel in the evening)
UD - Friday until 6pm
DD - Saturday
UD - Sunday

Can't quite believe I have started this diary as I'm usually such a private person, but all the literature I have read on weight loss states that you have more chance of succeeding with support.

Bye for now.

Hi wobblebottom. Hope your first week is going well and we get a diary update soon

Morning all,

Thanks for the update MrsC. I created my diary last week on my phone & then couldn't find it anywhere. Thought the entry had been lost as I'd created it on my phone.

Anyway, my week was going really well until Thursday night when we staying in a hotel prior to our visit to Alton Towers on Friday. Basically, I haven't stopped eating since then. I really enjoy the JUDDD way of eating and was very surprised how easy the two DD's were that I completed.

Seeing my diary on MiniMins this morning could not have come at a better time. I was just contemplating what to do today, binge & start again tomorrow or start again today. Well as they say - there's no time like the present - so I'm having a DD day today. DD's Sun, Tue & Thur will fit well for me this week as I have my brother & his family coming to stay on Friday.

All the best

Hi from another newbie :)

Well done for making a fresh start, you will really enjoy it once you're in your stride :D

:D I love your user name - that made me smile!

Welcome to JUDDD-ing x One of the best things about this way of eating is that it's very forgiving. If you have a bad DD, you can always decide to have a DD the next day instead. If you need to have two UDs together, you can have them. Once you get into the swing of things, it all gets a lot easier and you actually start looking forward to DDs. :)

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Susie, I have been following you for so long on the Atkins thread, that I feel as though I know you!

Well I ended up slightly over on my DD today - 679 cals. Made the mistake of going to the gym on a DD, which just made me more hungry. Gym strictly on ID & UD's from now on.

I'll catch-up with everyone's diaries tomorrow.

Hello and welcome, not sure how I missed your Diary before now so apologies for that. Lily has said it all really DD s are magic and can make up for the wrst UP days I am testament to that fact. I really hope you and Juddd get on, once you find your rhythm it stops being a diet and becomes a way of life, I love it x

Well, due to little late night nibbling I ended yesterday on 843 cals. Decided to average the cals out that I would have had over yesterday & today which gives me 1500 for today.

Think I can manage that!

Have a good day fellow JUDDDers.

Morning Wobblebottom!

Actually, 843 calories isn't that bad, honestly. For a DD early on in this WOE, that's pretty good going. So... may I humbly suggest that you don't restrict yourself to 1500 calories today. Because that's not how JUDDD works. It isn't as straightforward as keeping track of calories (because if it was, that's what you'd be doing - calorie counting, not JUDDD). It's about the swing between lower calorie days and much higher calorie days. If you restrict yourself on an UD (by not eating most if not all of your UD calories) you are much more likely to struggle on the following DD. It can set up a pattern that you probably don't want to get into - blowing your DD, restricting your UD to compensate, blowing the next DD, restricting your UD to compensate etc etc. You're much more likely to have a 'good' DD if you do the right preparation for it the day before, i.e., eat your proper allotted number of UD calories.

Nearly everyone struggles to start with - I know I did! But after a few days, DDs get a lot easier and you become less hungry on UDs. Hard to believe, I know - but it's true!

Brilliant advice Lily, no need to add anything you have said it all :D

Hi,

Well I followed Lily's advice & went for a UD today. It's hard to relax about the number of cals allowed on UD's. All set for my DD tomorrow. Going to hold off eating as long as I can.

I know what you mean, I'm 5wks in and still can't get my head around how we can eat so much and be okay when I've spent so long on vlcds and struggled to lose!

17 lost : 50 to goal

Nearly through my DD. 317 cals so far. OH is on nights so I'll be going to bed with the kids at 9pm to keep me out of the kitchen.

It's wired how I feel energised on a DD. Didn't happen on VLCD'S, I had no energy & spent as much time as I could in bed.

Think I'll start weighing myself tomorrow.
