Arco's Juddding Journey...here goes nothing!!

Righto...here I go!

I have just found JUDDD on Minimins. I have never heard of it before!

I have done many, many diets in the past and I am currently following Paul mcKennas method. This has helped me relearn what hungry feels like and to slow down my eating and have smaller portions. I have been doing this for around 5 weeks now but not sure on weight loss as I work on a ship so it's a bit difficult to get an accurate weight.

Prior to PM and before the usual falling off the wagon, I was goin 6 weeks to OMG which I loved and followed religiously while offshore. However, when i got home I found it was just not compatible with everyday life. I did get out of the habit of eating breakfast and having a cup of black coffee in the morning and have found that this suits me.

My plan is to basically combine many of the lessons learned with JUDDD i.e, not eating breakfast. Only eating when I am hungry. Eating what I want and not what I think I should be eating (on UD only). I plan to keep my portions small and enjoyable and continue to eat mindfully.

I started yesterday with a DD and found it fine. My calories are: DD = 436 UD = 2181

Today is my up day :)

I will be going home on Thursday so I will weigh prob Friday. Then I will continue on JUDDD so I will know what portion of my weight loss is attributable to this plan.

There it is.....I have a plan!! :D

Good luck! It really is the best 'diet' ever! I've been doing it for almost 10 weeks and lost a stone. Only another 7lbs til target x

Wow!! That's fantastic! You have done really well

I hope I have found the plan that works for me too.

Hello and welcome.
I tried Paul Mckenna too. I did lose a bit, but I found it made me more obsessed with food, trying to assess if I was hungry or not all the time, then when I was, what did I want to eat, which might take 30 mins to cook by which time I'm chewing my arm off....plus when you're at work, you have to eat at set times, can't just pop out to snack whenever you feel like. I did it for a couple of months, but felt like it was getting harder and more obsessive rather than less.

I like this so much better...on 2 or 3 days, yes I'll be a bit hungry, my food choices will be limited so I don't need to think about food too much. On the other days, I eat what I feel like, when I feel like.

Hope it works for you!

Welcome I was the same with Paul McKenna just found it hard to assess my hunger etc. have actually discovered more about my hunger through juddd and I am less obsessed with food than I have ever been . What do you do on the ship? And do you have control over what food is served at all (assuming you do as you did 6 weeks to omg )

Hope to get to know you better Teresa x

Hi Teresa,

I am the medic on here, currently out in China.

I am well attuned to my hunger signals now but still never feel full. Today, however, was my first UD after my first DD and I have found that I was full so much more quickly than usual today. Only just had room for my apple crumble at tea time!!

There is a good selection of food but I am unable to weigh anything. There is a good salad bar with undressed salad and coleslaw etc. Always boiled veg and some meat or fish. I started Atkins on the vessel a couple of years ago as it does fit well with the food choices available so OMG wasn't that dissimilar....apart from the cold baths!! Bbbrrrrrr

Well here are my first 2 days:

Yesterday 1st DD:
Breakfast - Black coffee - 0 cals
Lunch - Heinz Squeeze and stir tomato soup - 144 cals
very small wholemeal bread roll - 76 cals
Snack - Half pint lager (ahem..in port lol!) - 100 cals
Tea - Lettuce, Cucumber, silverskin onions,
1 slice of red pepper, 2 tbsp coleslaw - 38 cals
Supper- Medium banana - 110 cals
Protein Shake - 96 cals

Total - 564

Would have been spot on but for the half pint of lager...but it would have bee rude not to! I had diet coke up to that point despite being in the bar for nearly 3 hours

Today
1st UP:
Breakfast - Black coffee - 0 cals
Snack - Banana - 110 cals
Dinner - Ham, yorks pudds (x 2 large)
Gravy, broccoli, carrots - 503 cals
Tea - Singapore rice noodles, turkey,
tiny bit of beef, apple crumble
and ice cream - 1114 cals
Supper Small packet M&Ms (choc) - 258 cals
Total - 1876 cals

The calories are all approximate as I cant weigh anything or look at the packets. All info from Livestong - MyPlate calculator.

I only have 3 cups of tea a day with 5-10mls of SS milk no negligable.

I won't be writing this down every day...just my DDs, as the whole idea is to improve my relationship to food...oh yeah, and lose weight!!!!

Cheers maccalenny :D

Cheers Guys :)

My 2nd DD:

Breakfast - Black coffee - 0 cals
Lunch - Heinz Squeeze and stir tomato soup - 144 cals
very small wholemeal bread roll - 76 cals
Tea - Lettuce, Cucumber, silverskin onions,
1 slice of red pepper, 2 tbsp coleslaw - 38 cals
Supper- Medium banana - 110 cals
Protein Shake - 96 cals

Total - 464

I have tried to keep it the same as the 1st DD as its easier! It will be better when I get home and have more choice and things in packets too.

Hmmm...my thumb ring fell off in the shower after my 1st DD too. I forgot to mention it. That has NEVER happened before!!

I feel a bit like I have found the Holy Grail of dieting....let's see what the scales say soon when i get home to my lovely family :family2:

Oh yes I forgot.......it's fajita day tomorrow! The best day of the week on here in my opinion. Yum.

...and would you look at that..it's an UD too....now that's planning for you!

...and I saved a portion of tonight's cherry crumble to have tomorrow cos you cn bet it will be a rubbish pudd on my UD!

Best of luck with JUDDD. Seems like you have taken to it like a duck to water so far. I have to say, this is the first 'diet' I have been on where I can't tell you exactly how many days, hours and minutes I have been on it. I just think it's a great way to eat. Still early days for me but hoping to lose a little bit of weight with it and then maintain.

What is it with this waking up early thing??? Since I started JUDDD I have woken up well before my alarm each morning and it's only my 4th day. I usually have to drag myself out of bed after snoozing the alarm as much as possible.

I mean..it isn't a problem. It's nice to wake up feeling alert instead of half dead lol!

Okey doke....that's my 2nd UD nearly over. It's 18.15hrs China o'clock.

My total for today is approx 1845 cals so far. Just had egg fried rice and chicken in oyster sauce followed by cherry crumble and ice cream saved from last night (why do they always have the good pudds when i'm on a DD??)

Just having a brew before I finish my shift. Couldnt eat another morsel and I got full really quickly so might have to call it a day for my calories today.

Hi there :) That food is sounding pretty good to me right now on a dd! Good luck with Juddd x

Cheers Louise :)
