I need the full 24 hours fast to get the swing. My resting heart rate is only 50 and never gets more then 60-70 after running for 20 minutes so I think my metabolism is naturally slow too. The potato hack sounds horrible. I am not keen on potatoes tho - especially if they are not roasted in goose fat so I am interested to see how you get on. I think LittleMumma posted a different potato diet on her diary.( where do I sign, I'm in - I think it is.)

I love potatoes yum!! Littlemummas one is a bit different, I just get to eat potatoes and nothing else, she gets to have yummy stuff too. (not goose fat mind !)

I do best with the 24 hours as well, it makes more sense anyways if it takes 16 hours to get to fat burning mode you might as well enjoy another 8 of them rather than just 3 with fast 5, but that said I could see I would eat less when the window opened, well eventually anyway.

Having tried probably every permutation of IF now I can see that full UD/DD works best for me weight wise, then I can just eat or not eat without trying to squash things into windows or cut off times, it's less stressful all in I think. But of course 5-5 needn't work any less well if I can keep control of myself! I'm getting into a good routine with my packs so I know what I'm having breakfast and lunch regardless of what day it is, then I adjust the evening to suit, I'm all about routine me!

I've only ever done 5-5 ( except my first dd) and lost 21 lb since 6th Jan. I think my first month was a blip and not all of it was fat but I've lost steadily since so, yes I think it works well.

Supposed to be DD yesterday from 5 pm but trying to get oldest two dc's moved ( preferably this year lol) into a flat so had no chance to eat at all all day and then didn't get home until gone 7 pm so ended up eating take out as too hungry to cook and too hungry to do DD! So DD from tonight - also had another day of no proper food ( due to more moving into flat issues) and shovelled a chicken and avocado sandwich down at about 4 pm, followed by marmite on toast and a banana. Be glad when the stress of the move is over. I can see my routine going out the window otherwise.

Thanks I'm useless this week. I had such high hopes. I'm going to end up gaining if I don't wind my neck ( and mouth) in. My stomach rumbling now and I am supposed to be fasting while 5 pm tomorrow. Doesn't help that oh is eating pizza next to me. xx

Sometimes you just can't fit in a fast and it's as simple as that, and you have to eat something, don't give yourself a hard time about it, remember we do JUDDD it doesn't do us!!

You might get a nice surprise on the scales by taking a bit of a break anyways?

Thanks both of you. I added up the calories from my binge and tbh it wasn't that bad. It was less then 1,200 on one day and about 1,500 on the other so I think my idea of binge eating has change subtly. I've managed my dd today with only a banana so I'm pleased about that. I think a break would be good tho so I might have 2 UD this weekend instead of doing strict alternates. Also why do I look slimmer in the mirror in the morning and morph into a fatty by tea time even when I've had nothing to eat? I must be taller when I get up or something. xxx

Yeah definitely not a binge, not even a normal calorie day, I say have your 2 up days and try and get some well earned time to relax, JUDD will be there waiting for you!!

I had tea last night then nothing until tonight ( it was about 24 hours) so I 'm on an UP now until Sunday. Unless I get bored of the food thing before then. I do now. It's weird. Think if next week is a sts or not much off I might have to shake up things a bit. Levin seems to be doing great on what I think is just two fasts a week. Have asked him how many hours they are. Might be a way forward cos I'm still finding the chopping and changing difficult.

I am starting to wonder if you're eating enough and your metabolism has reacted? Maybe the 2 ups will shake it up a bit for you, are the scales moving at all?

I don't think the scales have moved for about 10 days. I sts last WI on Tuesday and I had a sneaky look today and I'm the same so I'm maintaining. Not sure how to proceed tbh. The first month I lost a huge amount but Judy said I wasn't eating enough to get the swing. I've stepped it up since then but going by MFP I never go over 1,800 on UD now and am usually well under that. Unless MFP is hugely inaccurate and I'm really eating more. Today I've had home made chilli and rice, small bowl of cereal and a small piece of cheesecake and only had 720 calories according to mfp. I'm stuffed tho. Back to a DD cos I know I won't eat any more tonight and won't be hungry again until tomorrow tea time.

Not dumb and I don't get it either. I think I do need to lengthen my fasts. I only do 24 hour at the moment ( but fast completely ) cos I hate going to bed hungry but I think that might work. I work outside tho and it's so hard when it so cold to do it. I live for tea time knowing I can have a hot meal. I'm also thinking about coming off the HRT I'm on cos everyone on the meno forums are moaning about the one I'm on making them put weight on which may account for why I've sts. If I wasn't on the plan I'd probably have put weight on too. I started taking it a month before my weight loss slowed. Coincidence? Maybe. Fed up tonight and contemplating sodding the DD and going on the voddie Need to get my head out of my back end and bite the bullet and do a longer fast I think and see what happens.. xx Still smiling at you in your posh room with your mini bar tho

Hmm yes the HRT could be the culprit here hard to know isn't it. I do notice though a lot of people are reporting stalls on this board and on some other forums, generally after a big loss like yours, apparently it can take some time for the body to normalise.
