My Last Stone Diary! Doing whatever it takes :)

I've done Slimming World since September but stalled by Christmas at 31 lb off. Gained at Christmas so now at 24 lb off. I've sts since the 7lb gain but have dithered around deciding what to do. I had a brief go at WW but don't like counting and some of the products tasted fairly disgusting to me. During a browse on the forum I came across JUDDD and, after reading for hours, decided it might work for me.

I'm going to keep a record of my calories - hopefully to stop the rising panic I feel each time I get on the scales. Sneak preview shows a 2 lb rise on last Sunday which was the last time I got weighed before I started. I've been doing JUDDD a week tomorrow but won't weigh in officially until after my DD on Monday.

Mon DD - 500 calories - found it very hard going due to lack of fluids and blood sugar drops. Fortunately lovely people on here helped me out.

Tuesday UD 1,900 calories - pig out central.
I was like a crazy woman and ate over half of the calories within an hour of the DD ending.

Wednesday DD - 180 - easy peasy, stunned actually, after my first DD I was dreading it - I struggled to make it to 500 calories (revised cos on re-reading MFP I didn't reach 500 I'd read the wrong day )

Thursday UD - 492 - forced up to 600 by a very small glass of wine - Hmmm....... most try harder cos that was way too low for an UP.

Friday DD- 200 - Had a good day - felt a bit hungry by 4 pm but I've split my DD into 5 pm - 5pm after seeing Hannah's diary so all good as I could have tea at 5. Ending up eating much later in the end so I think an element of the hunger was cos I couldn't have it rather than being really hungry.

Saturday UD- got weighed this morning - big mistake cos it shows + 2lb which after the week I was a bit peeved about to say the least. I know this is normal so am hanging in in the hope I get a STS or a drop by Tuesday but I'm not getting too hopeful as tomorrow is an UP too. Calories 1,115 since 5 pm last night - yay -better than Thursday.

Sunday DD - 0 as fasted
NSV - lost 2 inches off my stomach ( how I have no idea)- bearing in mind I've had 7 kids, including twins, this is brilliant for me

I will try to update daily.

OMG seriously you are way way way under eating!!! I am genuinely, seriously worried about you. Your daily average calories for this week has been less than 500. That is starvation level. You are not giving your body enough calories to maintain your lean body mass which includes your heart. Whilst one week at this level won't do you lasting damage, if you keep it up it will...your calories are below those of a VLCD without the balance of the nutrition. JUDDD works because of the swing between very low calorie intake and the maintenance level calorie intake which prevents the metabolism being suppressed as it is from long term low calorie intake.
I'm not criticising you, just concerned. I work in Health & am trained in Nutrition so see the damage that poor diet over the years wreaks on our bodies when we are older and by then its too late to do anything about it.
JUDDD works if you eat 500 or less on your DD and around 2000 cals on your UD. You need to allow at least a month of following this pattern for your body to adjust to it!

I know you are right. I calculated it last night and thought uh, oh that's not right. I was shocked at how little I've had. I struggle to eat on the up days cos of having so little on the down. I started a DD last night at 5 pm and finish at 5 pm tonight and am having a roast dinner as soon as the time is up. I've had nothing today at all yet expect coffee so I didn't even get my 500 in. I've been outside all morning cleaning out animals. I need to get more calories in on the UD's. I will try. Probably start making my Cornish Pasties again and have one with mash and veg - yummy.

Apart from the lack of calories tho - I feel fantastic. My energy levels are through the roof and my joints aren't aching so much. Definitely sold on JUDDD now.

DD til 5 then roast dinner. Ate nothing this DD at all. Had coffee and water. Calculated on MFP I've had 526 calories at start of UD. ( with fruit and custard pud!) I didn't eat it all tho. I was stuffed after half a plateful. Left the stuffing, all the mash and half the pudding. Still the night is young

Well done on the mini feast, you'll settle in to JUDDD after a week or two. Once you start to realize that you CAN eat a fair bit on UD's and still lose you'll be fine. Glad you are getting the health benefits!

Thanks Jilly Had a wobble today cos on my old scales I now weight 12 stone 10lbs That's 6lb up from last Sunday ( I know logically with what ate that can't be fat) but worse was to come. On my new digital ones that arrived this morning I weight 13 stone 8 lbs, so weight wise I' m back to what I thought I was, but must have been heavier, in November and must have been more than 14 stone when I started in September. I don't understand why I am still fitting smaller clothes tho. My jeans are a size 14 and too big now. I was in 18 last September. Onwards and upwards. Will update my ticker to reflect the new weight and keep going. Tomorrow is official weigh in after a today UUUD. It would help if I could exercise but with a fractured shoulder I can only walk at the moment.

Thats odd... I need new scales but keep putting off getting them because I'm afraid that they will weigh heavier! regarding the 6lbs up on the old scales, don't worry JUDDD gives some weird weights when you first start. as said before, try to stick to the plan and see how it pans out after a couple of weeks, I'm sure you already weigh 1st thing am before eating & drinking & with scales on a hard surface & in the same place to eliminate at least a few variables...oh and preferably after a DD too. Damn scales

Is JUDDD the same as the 5:2 diet? I read about it yesterday and thought I'd give it a go. I'm thinking 500 calories on Mondays and Thursdays and 2000 calories every other day (it says eat what you want on other days but dont think that would work for me, I easily eat 3000 calories a day, thats how I got into this mess!) x

Yes I did the putting it in the right place etc . Dh weighs fully dressed with boots, and out door jacket on 8 stone 8 on them! He's solid muscle, eats like a horse. No justice lol I have a down day tomorrow so I'll see where am I them. I hate scales cos I was quite upbeat until I got on the new ones.

It's similar Chubbycheeks but most of us do alternative UD and dd with two UD's at the weekend. If you google Johnsons UP day Down day diet he has a website with information on it and you can calculate what calories you should be eating on an Up day on there. Most of us stick to under 500 or bang on on the down days. Some fast on the dd too. I have struggled all week to eat 2,000 on the up days. Its hard after eating so little on the down but I'm getting there. I can't say it works for me yet but other swear by it so I have faith it will eventually.

Starving now. Drank a bucket of water but feel sick with hunger. Not thirsty anyway so it can't be thirst hunger. It's only 6 hours since I last ate. I think the problem is over all, divided by 8 days, I've still had less than 800 calories a day. Must get UD better on a regular basis. I'm showing ketones too ( according to my dips stick which is a pretty purple) despite drinking enough to sink a battleship. Didn't think ketosis was supposed to happen on an UD? Bet I still haven't lost any weight tomorrow I may as well be on a vlcd at this rate. At lest I'd get the right nutrients from the replacement meals.
