Hi everyone welcome to my JUDDD diary!!!

I just got home (last night) from an amazing holiday in Egypt which I thoroughly enjoyed but I will admit I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I was slim. I felt very self conscious round the pool and being overweight was at times uncomfortable in the heat.

I'm not new to dieting I have lost huge amounts of weight doing all sorts including a VCLD where I lost 8 stone. Unfortunately I've put most of the back on.

Whilst I was in holiday I read the Alternate Day diet and something just clicked. Soooo here I am in the evening of my first DD. I've decided not to do shakes but Brevita's instead. So I've had two packs today totalling 470 calories. I've drunk loads of fluids but do have a bit of a headache. Not back at work till Wednesday so have a couple of days to get used to it

So the plan is DD on Mon Wed and Fri with a weigh in every Saturday morning. I want to lose around 6 stone :)

Have a feeling this is the way forward as the thought of being able to eat tomorrow is keeping me focused. Not going to count calories on the UDs but going to listen to what my body wants. I tested this theory on holiday telling myself I could eat whatever I wanted and astonishingly it wasn't unhealthy food I was wanting ... This was a true revelation to me.

Anyway hope you come along for the ride there aren't as many threads on here as other diets but I have a feeling this will change going forward.

Hi Julia and welcome to the JUDDD forum.

I'm relatively new to JUDDDing myself having switched over three weeks ago from a VLCD. My third weigh-in is tomorrow and not sure how I've done. I'm fine managing my DDs - haven't put a foot wrong - but getting a handle on my UDs is proving more challenging. Like you I'm fasting Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I haven't been counting calories on my UDs but am thinking I might have to start if I'm going to lose rather than just maintain and I want to lose because I still have 4st to shift. Thanks for your message. Hope you are enjoying your UD. What do you eat on your DD?

Totally get where you are coming from re the UDs - are you hungry on these days? I've only had Brevita's so far as I'm not that hungry at all although last night I was starving!!! Planning to go shopping soon as pick up some food for today. I'm only going to buy what I need for today, I'm lucky I live alone so don't have to have food in the house on a DD.

After yesterday's DD I got on the scales out of curiously and I was down 10lbs. However I will say i had a lot of water retention from the flight Sunday night so not getting too excited about it. I'm only going to way on the mornings of UDs. I will say when I stick to something I tend to lose weight quickly and I have a new determination about me this time. I'm going back to Egypt early next year so plan to be a lot slimmer by then

Other reason for doing this is I am having an operation to remove a cyst next month so want to lose as much as I can before then. This morning I weighed 16stone 9lb.

I was doing Exante before I switched to JUDDD and still have lots of their products so I'm using two of their meal replacements - one in the morning and one at night which amounts to 400 calories and then 200 mls semi-skimmed milk (100 calories) in coffees throughout the day. I also drink lots of water, allow myself one can of Coke Zero if I want it and bouillon if I feel like something hot and savoury.

I'm not particularly hungry on my UDs and am trying to train myself not to eat for the sake of eating just because it's an UD. I'm finding it frustrating not to want to eat on an UD because I feel like I want to make the most of it. However, trying to view not wanting to eat on an UD as a blessing rather than a curse as weight loss is the primary objective!

Interesting that you were starving last night but then you're not that hungry today. That has happened to me a lot, along with craving something on a DD but then not wanting it when my UD arrives.

Hope you had a good UD. I see you have a diary so will read that for inspiration.

I do have some shakes left similar to Exante and may buy some slim fasts for work. It's easier for me not to have to mix it. I don't get on with the shakers hate the lumps so use a hand blender.

My UD today was as follows:-

Breakfast

Brevita's (no food in house first thing)

Brunch

Two Richmond thin sausages
1 egg
Small tin of beans
2 Potato Waffles
1 slice wholemeal bread

Dinner

Pasta Bolognaise
Grated Cheese
Garlic Bread
Salad

Snacks

Lemon Drizzle Cake
Crisps

Actually looking forward to my DD tomorrow. Had my niece and sis in law over for for dinner hence the slice of cake and wine but didn't really want it.

Drinks

Glass of wine
Dietcoke

First day back at work tomorrow after hols so not looking forward to it lol. Hope the stress doesn't throw my DD.

Feeling very positive about doing this. I know it's the right path for me.

I think the key is while not to 'diet' as such on your UDs to try and not pig out either but eat up to your TDEE and try and do some exercise, something that I've failed to implement up to now!! Also, I'm not viewing myself as being 'on a diet' but as having adopted a new lifestyle that at the moment means I'm fasting three days a week and when I'm at goal will see this reduced down to two. As a result I've removed my 'goal date' from my stats as frankly it doesn't matter, within reason, and there is no end date, ever - well until I drop off my perch!! :eek:
 
I think you have a very realistic and sensible approach to this. I'm finding it quite easy so far. Am excited to see what the scales say tomorrow after my DD today!!!

I can't do any exercise until after my operation so gym membership on hold but looking forward to getting back on it.

The way I look at this is I'm eating less calories than I usually do and that's got to be a good thing.

First day back at work and haven't home over 500 calories and don't feel hungry so that's a result.

Decided to try eating instead of doing shakes didn't go over 500 calories so happy with that. Didn't have the crispbreads until I got home from work which helped deal with my danger time!!!

Good day all in all. Looking forward to seeing the scales in the morning!!!

Wasn't very hungry today been picking more than eating just couldn't think of anything I fancied.

Weighed this morning 10lb loss but think a lot of that was due to water retention from the flight. But very happy regardless. It's only been a few days. Weekly weigh in will be Saturdays.

Very tired tonight so keeping this short.
 
Well done on your 10lb loss. Stay strong tonight. As you say, you might be hungry but you can eat tomorrow. And I guarantee you won't wake up starving.

Thank you x still said a 10lb loss this morning. Not starving at all haven't eaten yet!!! So weird isn't it lol I'm fasting tomorrow Tues and Thurs next week due to social/work engagements falling on Monday and Friday. I'm travelling to Liverpool for work Thursday so will make that a fast day. Going to stick to shakes in my fast day think it will be easier for me to see them as just a non food day.

Fasted yesterday had sneaky weigh in this morning 12lbs down in total :) very very happy as only started this a week today!!! UD today but not the slightest bit hungry. At meeting in Canary Wharf so there may be lunch definitely know there are drinks after the meeting!!!!

Thank you x Having manic week at work hence no posts. Changing my fasting days this week to accommodate travel has really thrown me. I know it shouldn't but it has. Supposed to be fasting today and just had a meal in the hotel. Grrrrr really cross with myself as fasted all day. Journey was long and I wanted some comfort. Think I will have to fast again tomorrow.

Anyway exhausted do I'm going to sleep.

Okkkkk I'm back... Fell ill last year with a Dermoid Cyst and had an operation in September so everything went up the wall. Took a long time to heal mainly due to be being overweight and unhealthy. I know this works for me just taken me awhile to want to start focusing on me again!!!

Back to JUDDD tomorrow going to be using shakes for the first two weeks and see how I go!!! Just catching up with everyone's posts today.

Good news is that I don't think I've put all the weight I lost back on just about to scroll up to see.

Well today was my first day back on it. DD today 2 slimfast shakes. Feel good and proud of myself for abstaining from food. Looking forward to my UD tomorrow. Early night tonight though!!!

Weigh ins will be Saturday mornings.
 
Had a good week 3 DD all successful and complete. Weigh day yesterday 2lb down so was happy with that especially as it's star week so should have a bigger loss next week

UDs have consisted of cereal for breakfast healthy sandwich for lunch and omelette and salad for dinner during the week. This weekend ive had full english breakfasts and then last night beef casserole which I have again tonight x

All going well so far.
