Before I explain what I mean, I know there's a lot of people out there who love JUDDD and I am not in any way trying to offend anyone whose following this plan and had success on it!

I understand the principles of JUDDD, but I guess I just don't believe in it? To me all I see is everybody's weight fluctuating dramatically day by day, so how in the long run anybody can lose weight is beyond me?

I'd love to know what your losses have been, those of you who've been following the plan for a little while, like how many pounds did you lose per week?

I guess I'm too scared of trying JUDDD because I'm adamant that my weight will just fluctuate all over the place & I won't actually lose anything!

It's never going to give losses like a vlcd, but it does give steady weight loss. I'm 2 weeks in, 2lb lighter, having switched from a vlcd - when everyone normally gains! If you want to weigh daily for interest, then do so but only record your weight once a week.

The best way I could get my head round it was to look at a traditional calorie restriction diet, say of 1500 cals a day, then multiply that by 7, that then gives you a weekly total of 10500 cals. With IF, I am having 3 days of 500 and then 4 days of 2000 (sometimes a tad more) - that's a total of 9500 cals - which is equivalent to 1360 a day. Now, what would I prefer, every day sticking to 1350 or 3 days sticking to 500? It's a no brainier for me.

Interestingly too, Michael Mosley has said on twitter that when straight calorie restriction and ADF were compared, ADF did better.

I'd have a look at Jo's diary on here, she's been doing it for about 12 weeks with consistent weight loss. To be honest if you've got a small amount of weight to get off quickly I don't think this is the right diet. But for me with a lot of weight to lose I think this may be the diet I can do in the long term. I've lost loads on cd and ll and just put it straight back on. I'm thinking of this less than a diet and more of a lifestyle choice I can live with forever.

I've got just over 70lbs to lose, so quite a fair amount. I guess it just worries me because I do have so much to lose, and although I don't expect it to fall off overnight - I don't want it to take forever either. For me it's very much normal calorie restriction or JUDDD, but I just haven't decided on which yet. I think I will read through some of the diaries on the JUDDD boards and have a good long think...

your "weight" fluctuates naturally every day no matter what diet you are on... You don't lose weight day to day, you lose it over weeks months, and even years. Just like none of us put the weight on overnight. If you counted up the calories you ate over the week on juddd, you would find its no more than what you'd eat over the week on a regular calorie counting diet. (just like misshapp said)

You gotta have faith in a diet plan or it simply won't work. Negativity breeds negativity.

I've got stupid # of pounds to lose, but i've never been happier on a diet, not once thought of cheating, and I've lost over a stone in 3 weeks.

I know that you don't lose weight every day on any other diet and that weight always fluctuates daily regardless of the diet plan you're following.. But I guess it's just the high fluctuations with JUDDD that worry me?

I must admit that after watching the BBC2 Horizon programme earlier this week I was really physched to give JUDDD a good go because of the benefits of intermittent fasting and alternate day dieting -- does anyone here who follows JUDDD follow a 4 DD and 3 UD plan though rather than the popular 4 UD's and 3 DD's?

I have so much weight to lose that I'm wondering if it'd be more beneficial for me to have 4 DD's per week?

That sounded a bit harsh tbh! I'm sure that she is just trying to work out what's best for her atm and everyone is welcome. Maybe profile picture is an old photo meant to inspire? Just a thought :)

It wasn't meant to I was doing exactly the same for ages and wanted to choose one thing and for it to work that's all so just intrigued to see if anything has worked etc

High ups = high downs you'll still lose in the end. Its all food weight not fat weight, you're getting a bit worried over it without actually trying it. You'd have to eat 3500 surplus calories in one day to gain a real pound of fat.

if you did 4 up days a week you'd have to have 2 together which wont work, the whole point of the alternation is the difference between the days. You could do a truly alternate fast and cycle every 2 weeks, that would be as strict as you can get.

It's not a very old photo, just one of me at my goal weight cause up until now I've always been slim and small and as I am in the photo.. It's only this year that I've gained weight through binge eating etc. So for me that photo is the 'real' me so to speak, and I haven't taken any photos of myself this year since I've gained this much weight as I don't want too!

I haven't really given any diet a real go, no.. Because in all honesty I haven't found one that really inspires me to believe that I can have success with it. And I don't think my head has been in the right place up until now either, weight loss is about more than just the food you put in your body and the exercise you do, a lot of its mental too and I've had a lot of issues to deal with first regarding my sudden behaviours and attitudes towards food, and now that I've got a grasp on those I'm ready to find something I believe in and hope it works for me...

Sorry it just came across that way. I hope I haven't offended you :-(

I'm confused -- you're saying 4 UD's a week wouldn't work when that's what everyone else on the boards seem to do? Most people there seem to have their DD's Monday, Wednesday, Friday and their UD's Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday which would result in two UD's next to each other... What plan do you follow & what do you mean cycle every 2 weeks?

I think she must have meant 4 DDs not UDs - you can do two UDs together not two DDs x

I am currently doing CD and a few lbs from my target.

I intend to do juddd as a way of maintaining personally. I do however think its great for those with a lot to lose because the down days will probably be more bearable when you know that you can eat the very next day

I got worried when I read the title of the thread!! Thought there was evidence that JUDDD wasn't good! Thankfully not the case as I'm loving it so far.

I'm currently on the ADF after I began to struggle with a vlc diet. I'm weighing in on Monday or Tuesday so feel free to check my diary for my weight stats then. Although I don't know what my loss will be like I'm finding this plan quite easy. It still takes effort not to eat on a DOWN DAY but it seems quite doable. I hope you find a diet that works perfectly for you hun x

Thank you :) its nice to see some people are supportive even if others are a bit judgemental. I openly admit I've been all over these boards, tried and failed at many diets the last seven months and I do envy those who find one diet, stick with it and have success -- I wish I found it that simple, but I just don't.

I hope I find something that works for me. Whether I give JUDDD a go or just the basic calorie counting.. Not quite sure what my decision will be just yet.. x

Oh god I wasn't being judgemental just interested in of anything else had worked because the amount of plans is overwhelming xx

I think that's a fair enough explanation and doesn't sound judgemental at all when you explain your reason for the comment :) It's a fair enough question to have asked when put in context xxx

Before joining minimins, I'd never heard of half the diets on these boards such as Cambridge, slim and save, JUDDD etc.. I guess that's where my obsession with trying every diet out there started spiralling out of control!

If I didn't have a family to support and a 1 year old to look after and a full time job to hold down, then I'd probably stick with Cambridge and just grin and bare the expensive costs.. But I simply can't afford it and I don't think 3 shakes a day will give me enough energy to be a mum as well as go to work every day! That's why I've been looking more into JUDDD.. x
