Proper alternate days?

I think there are a fair few strict alternate dayers here, In my opinion I think if quicker weight loss is your aim then strict alternate should work better than set DD with 2 weekend UPs, I have considered this action several times but for me, what makes Juddd a longterm plan to get me to goal is my weekend UPs , I really enjoy having my weekends off and make the plan wholly more sustainable for me. But I don't have a goal date in mind, I am in no rush so as long as I am visibly reducing in size and still enjoying myself along the way then I am happy.
So yes I believe and it seems more likely that you will lose more weight by strict alternating, you just have to weigh up the pros and cons and how long you want it to take to get to goal xx

Hi conlou1,

Hi,
I'm starting today and trying the alternate day way first. I'm starting today on a DD- if it doesn't work I'll switch to the 3 DD and 4 UD, have so much too lose and have a wedding at the end of Sept so would like to lose a bit by then and if alternate days will help me achieve that then I'm in :)

Have a great weekend

My first week was like that Lou and my plan was to do this week the other way round and see what impact it would have weight wise, but I am not bother of shifting this last bit now so the race is not on for me, but if I had more to shift than I would alternate for sure.

You'd probably have to officially weigh on a DD, so you could have a 6 day week, or else a 6/8 week weigh in wise.

It is the ideal way to do ADF, but that means having alternating saturdays and sundays as fast days which I don't know I could do. I like, Jo, prefer it to be a plan that I can do easier, even if it means taking a slight backseat on the losses. All of my fast days are work days and I don't know if I could cope having a full day at home to... resist temptation :p Everyone's different though!

I don't know if it would improve weight loss or not, theoretically it should but then human bodies are not as simple as eating less = losing more. HTH :)

I think with me finally being in healthy bmi and not having a lot to
Lose now I have to put in extra effort to get these final few pounds off, I can't do this forever no way lol, and when I go on my hen weekend on 29th sept I'll be having the full weekend UD and not counting so I guess I want to
Put myself in good stead for then :) When I reach goal I'll be doing as few DD as poss to maintain :D

Not my hen weekend my friends lol

I am trying to do proper alternate until I get to target! Then I think it will be 2-3 dd

Today I am 10.1.8. Lowest I have been in ten years!!!!
I want to be below 10. About 9.12 and then stay down there! But, my weigh today was after a dd so I am guessing it will take a couple of weeks to be under 10 on an up!
Soooo excited to see the scales moving again. Today is an up but cycling 40 miles so a good up!

Hi all,

Well I started yesterday with all good intentions of being a DD but when DH returned from work and suggested getting dinner out, I did not take much persuading :( I gave it some serious consideration and realised although I would like the weight to come off quicker I've got to do this in a way that is a life change and sustainable or it will just end up like SW et al = failure. So therefore I'm going to do what seem to be the popular way on here of 3 DD's, 2 ID's and weekends of UD's:clap: so looks like tomorrow will be a down day :)

WG- a 40 mile bike ride, wow that is fab and well done on the weightloss.

Emma

I managed 3 dd this week and another 1 lb off :) not as good as my 2.4 loss last week but happy! Only 2 lbs off initial target of getting below 10 stone :)
I reeeeaaaallllyyyy hope it will be next week! 9.13 is flashing on those scales!
Have a great week all. Up day today, Chinese buffet!! Yum

Hi
well done to everyone on their fabulous loses.
I'm just starting with alternate day fasting (so fingers crossed.
I am initially going to fast every other day as I have a lot to lose.
So far this week I've had Monday up, Tuesday down, Wednesday up so today is only my second down day.
How much are people managing to lose weekly on this plan?

Hi jojo. First week I lost 2.5 lbs, second week one. But I only have a few lbs to target and been on sw for 18 months so my losses will not be big! This is the most I have lost in 6 months though !

Hi!! I managed 4lbs first week and 1lb this. Very happy with that considering my ud have been very much enjoyed!!

Well my third week is looking not so good :-( I started 3 weeks ago at 10.6
Dropped all the way to 10.1.8
Yesterday I was back at 10.5.6!!
This morning 10.3.4

I did have 2 big up days over wed/ thurs. Due one more dd before ' officially ' weighing in again although this could be tricky as we have family here for a week!

Hmmm. I guess this is when I see if it is working for me and the numbers stay down. This last bit is stuck to me like glue !!!

How's everyone else?
