Starting JUDDDD... or just a low calorie diet?

Hii.

I am a bit confused about all this... so 5:2 is for lazy people, JUDDDD is for the more committed... is it then better to just have 500 calories every day? I mean, obviously I am greedy and can't stick to that, but is that better to aim for? What if I ate <500 calories Monday to Friday, and pigged out at the weekend?
I need to do something fast because I'm porking out more by the day!
I am so far on my third DD of 3 weeks... I've really been doing a 6:1 diet, but I really want to be good now!
I am 12 stone at the moment :(
I used to be 12 stone 5, then I got down to 10 on Slimming World (and still looked fat). I have no idea how I'm back up here!
Slimming World is too nice and friendly, and lets you pig out/lose control so I'm trying to be strict now. I haven't eaten chocolate or crisps since Boxing day :)
How are all you managing on this diet? I have felt less terrible each DD I've had... is this what you've found?
I am tracking my calories on MyFitnessPal and it says if I eat 500 cals each day, I'll be 14lb lighter in 5 weeks. That sounds nice. Also unrealistic/anorexic (I wish).

500 calories a day is unhealthy & an anorexic approach to eating tbh, unless you follow cambridge etc where it is monitored. It is hard. And unless you meet every nutritional need you'll make yourself ill.

No 5:2 isn't for lazy people. It's an easier way to fast which people like yourself (who may find dieting/fasting hard..) so you're only technically dieting two days a week, it's an alternative diet devised by Michael Moseley who has a book out and did a documentary in the summer called "Eat, Fast, Live Longer" on BBC. He did it and trialled it and looked into all sorts of Intermittent fasting including Alternative Day fasting and found this was the easiest way for him and therefore put it out there for people who find dieting difficult or too restricting.

JUDDD is just alternative day fasting where you switch from a down day to an up day..not necessarily for the committed just a different way. I did JUDDD in the summer and now my diet seems to be more 5:2 as I sturggle on a Sunday.. but weightloss seems to be the same..

if you were too do all your week DD and then weekend UD you may struggle as it can be hard to do two/three DD in a row.. + there isn't really any evidence as it gives better results than alternative days. There is also the "Hannah Way" as we call it where instead of day to day you fast with in a time frame so Monday 6pm you are on a DD until Tuesday 6pm and so on...

Thanks :)
I wasn't being serious about laziness / commitment....
The Hannah style sounds hard! I won't be doing that. Seems strange that 5:2 is giving you similar results to the alternate day diet. Do you count calories on your up days?

Hi, most online articles advise against more than 48 hours fasting.

I'm enjoying 3 fasting days each week and the weekends off.

Give it a go but you might need to monitor your calories on up days to make sure you get enough, have you tried the calorie calculator on the juddd website, that might help...

Please be careful with your down days, it's ok to go slowly at first to find out what your body likes and can lose weight with.

Thanks for your help. :)
Yeah 3 down days sounds good to me. I can't face 500 cals Friday, Saturday or Sunday so I will have to do a double down during the week! I might try tomorrow as my second day... Let's see! X

Yep I keep track of cals on UDs as well as DD .. except for Saturdays.. the one day I rarely count a single calorie!

TBH you gotta find what works best for you I found double down days kinda didn't work for me, not that I may not try again, but for some it does..! atm I'm losing steadily with just two days fasting.. but working on fasting on a Sunday..

Hmmm I have to say, I am particularly starving today! Ate everything I planned on eating today before 10 AM haha. Maybe I am guna try today to have a NET intake of 500 so I will eat more but go to the gym :)
Dee, are you a man or a woman, where are you from, etc? I plan on drinking 1000cals + at the weekends :) haha.

Woman lol, it should say in my profile? I'm from Kent! Be careful eating back exercise calories as it's not recommended.. that's why I don't calorie count on Saturdays pl in case I go out I don't wanna even think about 'diet'. ;)

I don't get to look at profiles for some reason, I think it's maybe because I'm new?
Yeahh I don't get why you can't war back calories, I feel like I need the food reward for sweating so much haha:)
