Do you spread your calories throughout the day on fast days?

I've read in some places you should spread your 500 calories out during the day and others saying you need to not eat for X number of hours for it to work and therefore save them all for just one meal.

Would love to hear other peoples thoughts/opinions on this? I am on my 2nd fast day (last one was on Monday) and have been spreading them out during the day as I can't bear the thought of not eating until dinner time! And also, even as it is I feel weak at the end of my day on a fast day when I do have something small for breakfast and lunch.

Some of the IF diets have eating windows, other don't, so you might be reading about different things - can be confusing.

Those of us who started in JUDDD before Dr Mosely let the secret out :) followed the advice of finding our what suited us best. Some naturally gravitated towards 3 small meals, others towards 1 meal in the evening. I usually only eat in the evening but always have a lunch available, just in case. I found breakfast got to be a very easy to miss meal.

The trick is to decide which suits you... only you. You have tried 3 small meals, now try missing breakfast and having lunch and tea. If that doesn't work for you go back to 3 or try just tea.

Lots of people here have very different strategies. It might be worth having a read of some threads and see what discussions were going on before and around the Horizon programme, we did focus on it for a while.

But be reassured, whilst there may be different versions of IF those of us who like it have all lost weight when we found our own pattern.

Good luck :)

Thanks very much! I am doing the 5:2 diet, I did watch the Horizon programme but only recently so this is all very new to me. I have been having a read of a lot of the threads on here and like you say everyone seems to do something slightly different. Maybe on my next fast day I'll try giving breakfast a miss and having something a bit more substantial for either lunch or dinner. To be honest I never ate breakfast at all until about a year ago so I suspect that would be quite easy for me to do.

Thanks for your input, I found it most reassuring! Makes me feel better to know I'm not "doing it wrong"!

You're welcome :)

According to Dr Johnson (JUDDD) there is no wrong - just eat your calories. That's why I am so relaxed about it :)
