Buy cast iron ones and depending on how fit you are don't get below 4kg to start off with.
2kg and 3 kg are so light after a couple of weeks you will be buying the next one up.
If you are going to a shop try them out first.I think it's Sports Direct that have them on shop floor so you can just pick them up.
They may feel heavy to start with but once you've used it a couple of times it gets easier to swing it.

My advice also is to definitely get a cast iron one!!! My first was a 3kg from YORK which is vinyl on the outside but is filled with sand! So for its weight is huge! Whereas a 4kg one I just bought is 2 times smaller than the 3 kg! It makes it easier to handle them and play with them!

Good on you Cavegirl! The weather is so good for outdoor exercise right now but you're right -we can still do other indoor workouts and get the best of both!
