Hi all
I am at the start of my journey but can already tell that by the time I lose all my weight I am going to have skin like a set of elephants pyjamas ... my tummy is going to be flapping down around the pubic area .. yuk .... did you know the medical term is "apron"? How gross is that?!?!
Anyway has anyone out there had a tummy tuck - and if so is it worth it? Can you get it on the NHS and if so what are the prerequisites? ie do you have to maintain for a year etc?
Mrs P

I know its going but every time I get weighed I want that little bit more!!
ungrateful or what!

! It does go from hip to hip though and apparently sometimes, depending on how much skin and fat needs removing you may need a vertical cut upwards towards the tummy button (apparently i was lucky to get away without this).I don't know the reason why people would need that
.
It is the most painful cosmetic surgery you can have apparently and i can remember spending the majority of the first week post op in bed.I wasn't able to stand straight upright for over two weeks as the skin is tightly stretched and usually internally stitched and externally stapled
.
.They may not tell you also that post operatively there is often a lot of discharge that comes out of the wound (dead cells and serous fluid mainly), i mean pours out of the gaps between staples etc( not nice) but if you are prepared for this then it isn't such a shock!I had to have thick dressings on around my tummy for 2-3 weeks. This may sound like a total nightmare but I would definitely do it again if i had to and would recommend it to anyone who felt like i did about myself.
