Good questions to ask a LL counsellor before you start?

Thought it would be useful to have this as a guide for new people.

What else would you have liked to ask in hindsight?

    1. How long have they been a LLC?
    2. Will they be using a substitue, and if so how often? How much experience does this person have?
    3. What date will the 14 weeks finish?
    4. What contact methods do they have and times of availability?

    Hi,

Good subject! maybe should be a sticky if enough useful questions get raised!
    In addition to the above:

I would definately ask if they did the LL programme themselves, and how long ago.

I would ask what the process is if some flavour food packs are out of stock (will they deliver or allow you to come back to pick them up?)

How many people does s/he have lined up for the next group? (i.e. how big will your group be?)

How long do their counselling sessions actually last (they are supposed to last 2 hours - less if there are fewer members in a group, but it should not be a short session - unless its LL for Men, in which case sessions are usually shorter - but, as a bloke doing LL myself, I reckon that's OK :-)

    9. When will the next group be starting?

    10. What kind of format is there to the classes? How is the time structured?

    11. When do they take orders for the packs - do they prefer them by a certain time before the meeting?

    12. Assuming no medical conditions/tablets, is there a local pharmacy that takes blood pressure for free?

    13. Is there a private GP who can perform the check-up and sign the form, in case the regular GP declines?

    14. What do they recommend for constipation and diarrohea?

    15. Is there a local pharmacy that can do the monthly check assuming no underlying medical conditions?

    16. How much/ what kind of exercise do you recommend?

    17. Do you give out recipes?

    18. How many packs a day can be cooked?

Even if I do say so myself, I think this is a good thread. Any more good questions people?

(I went private straight away - didn't even bother with my regular GP, cos he is crap! He had a 2 week waiting list, and would have charged me more than the private one anyway! BTW, I paid £40 for the full check-up, and he wished me luck :-))

    Our LLC wasn't ever overweight!

Her background is in couselling. She teaches counsellors as well as doing it privately herself alongside LL.
She told me that a high proportion of LLC
who have lost weight eventually put it back on.She's been a LLC for 10 years.
We've been very lucky to have her. I wouldn't have been so successful without her I'm sure.

Started LL Feb 2008 21.5 stone
Reached goal Dec 2008 10 stone

LS some really good advice for newbies like me. Never thought of the packs being out of stock .
Will ask LLC when I next speak to her shea on her hols at the moment, I live 15 miles from the LL centre so it would be quite a hike to go and get them if she was unwilling to deliver.

Most weeks our LLC has ran out of something mainly bars which is really annoying as I drive 20 miles each way and pay for something that isn't in stock!

    Hi Rach,

I bet its dissappointing not being able to get the flavours you want and you live further away than me.
I'm going to have a word with my LLC as I haven't started yet. She seems really nice and all the boxes of packs seemed full as they are on display.
Has your LLC offered to post them to you?

My LLC has never run out of anything that I'm aware of. Make sure you put the feedback on the form at the end of Foundation and send it to LL. I don't think LLCs should get away with something like that on a regular basis. Of course if there is a national shortage or a once off thing, that's different but...
