Getting back on the wagon

Hi all,

I did LL about 4 years ago, lost 4 stone and was over the moon. Scumbag ex cheated on me, I fell off the wagon, ate and drank everything in sight, put all the weight back on. Then I met my partner, we had a beautiful daughter and I have been saying since I stopped breast feeding nearly a year ago that I was going to do this but I was never in a position financially.

Finally I have the funds and am going to sign up on Thursday. So glad you are able to self certify now as my doctors won't do the form as a private appointment at this time of year is impossible.

My start date is going to be the 6th January and I just wondered if there was anyone in my boat already or will be in the new year?

Hi Libby,
I know how you feel. I lost 6 stone with lighter life but thought that I could just stop and keep the weight off. Unfortunately it all went back on. I'm restarting the programme on the 2ND January and can't wait. Good luck!

Hi Melanie,

I've tried LL before but never really stuck to it. I have recently had an email conversation with the local consultant and there is a class starting in the New Year - Wednesday 2 January. At the moment I am still undecided if I will join LL or have a look at Lipotrim (which I have also tried in the past). I need to do something since I am 9 stone overweight and have set myself the challenge of the Manchester 10km in May. Noticing that you are starting your journey on 2 Jan 2013 I thought it would be good to partner up and encourage one another if that OK with you? Good luck!

Hi all, nice to see a few of us will be restarting our journey at around the same time! As long as our minds are set to do it we shall succeed this time!

@Jularrr, LL is a VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet). LL Total which is what I'm going to do, is 4 meal replacement packs a day and water to drink. You can have black tea or coffee but have to drink a few litres if water a day. When you attend your group sessions you also do CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and you learn the reasons you overeat and address them so that you can change your lifestyle. It's not for everyone and sometimes life gets in the way and you're not mentally in the right place for whatever reason. The diet takes a hue commitment as its really not easy but oh my goodness it works! You average at losing 1 stone a month!!!

I've done LL three times before but each time have gradually regained. However going to give it another go,starting 7th jan. Feeling positive and can't wait to get on with it!! Good luck all you returners xx

Hi All I am having my first consultation on the 1st hopefully would like to start as soon as I can ! I have about 3 stone to lose so would be grateful for any support - good luck to all

Hiya ladies. It looks like we'll all be in great company for this journey. I did LL about 2 years ago. It was the best money I had ever spent! I lost 5 stones in 3 months!! Anyway, went through a really bad time after completing RTM and most of the weight came back on. I restarted 3 weeks ago and am so excited.
Onwards and upwards x

Hi Libby,

I was trying lipotrim but kept falling off the wagon. Today a LL session starts which I have a place on. They have asked for 4*£15 up front for the cost of a 4 week module and did talk of a membership cost. I haven't seen reference to a membership cost on the LL website. I was just wondering what your experience is of the expense ...... then of course you have the packs to buy.

Hi, I had to pay a £30 deposit which would be offset against the first and third week. I don't have to pay any sort of membership fee. The pricing has changed though. It used to all e one price for packs and counselling, but then the delightful government were saying they could charge vat on LL despite it being a food replacement (so should be vat free). LL decided the best way around this was to break down the cost so you pay for everything separately. At the end of the day you still pay one price, it's just separate on paper to tick boxes. Also the price can vary by about a fiver depending on what packs you choose. Soups are the cheapest, bars the most expensive. I think the most it would ever be is about £74. The money that your counsellor is asking for upfront is the money for the counselling as that is £15 a session. To be honest for me it's worth every penny! Last time round I didn't think I needed it, I just thought LL was a quick fix but I was so wrong. I learned so much about myself. From personal experience and reading others stories, I think the key to this diet is following it to the end. The management program is so important. I hope this helps a bit :) x

P.s. if your counsellor is talking about a membership fee that is not the £15 for counselling, I really would question her about it. Find out exactly how much it is and why she is charging it despite there being no mention in any LL information and others not having to pay it. You may just find she's just calling the counselling money membership money.

The membership fee is a one off fee of £15. They give you a membership card and you are officially a life term member and can join back at any point x

Hmmm it must be different in different places then. I have a membership card and can rejoin whenever I like for the rest of my life yet I didn't have to pay for it. As I said before, all I paid was a £30 deposit which is offset against weeks 1 and 3. I would be questioning these things though if I knew other people didn't have to pay it. Seems a little unfair to me.
