Maximising your results!!!! Please HELP!

Hello,

I am starting the diet today and I really want to make the most out of it - lose the most weight but also tone and build muscle... Has anyone got the winning formula where they regularly lose 5lb a week?

I was thinking hitting the gym 3-4 times a week with a bit of cardio but mainly muscle training because i don't want that to be eaten away! Any advice???

Thanks very much!

The thing is ... people are different, what works for you might not work for someone else. Last year I lost 5 stone in 12 weeks by the diet and going to the gym each night. I set myself a target of 600 calories (the equal to what Lipo is) and in effect made it that my calorie intake per day was zero. I used the running machine on a high incline and walked for the first 3 or 4 weeks, that then progressed up to lowering the incline and jogging and then finally running on the flat level machine. That worked for me but at the time there were a lot of people who were doing the same but it had little or no effect on their weight loss and tone. I think you should go a week with and a week without the gym and compare the two weeks loss, however hold back on that until you are on week 3 or 4 and settled into a steady loss. The first weeks are up and down like a yo-yo. Good luck !

Hi, firstly lipotrim won't eat away muscle if you watch the DVD this is explained - You will only lose fat never muscle. However it will help tone your muscles and therefore reduce saggy loose skin if you use the weights and in many ways is more effective than cardio - which can be a lot if effort for little result.

As the previous reply said what works fir someone else may not work for you so my advice is to find something you like and will therefore stick to even when the weight is gone. Do something that fits your lifestyle and budget. Most importantly do not attempt much in the first few weeks - let your body adjust to the lower calorie intake and then slowly introduce you regime.

I cycle and run at the minute and plan to introduce swimming soon. I also so zumba now and then and walk everywhere. I would find the gym dull I prefer to be outdoors and also I do not want to spend much money. The exercise def helps but there has been some weeks where I've done tons but at my weigh in it's not really shown.

I would look at the exercise you do as a healthy lifestyle change rather than to aid your loss. Good luck x

Thank you guys - the pharmacy never showed me a video but I just assumed that muscle would be lost as it can be lost during any fat loss regime - but that is GREAT to know.

I did hear that you shouldn't exercise at the start but have been on a healthy diet and exercise regime for a month now so don't want to lose the momentum!

Do you find that weighing in weekly or a few times a week keeps you going? normally you are told to only weigh once a week but with the amount people seem to lose on this i think bi-weekly will help me!

I sometimes get weighed bi weekly but only as my pharmacist is pregnant and is having a difficult pregnancy and our appointments clash. It does help sometimes in that if you have a slow week you have another week to bulk it out but it has a down side such as if you slip up and eat you are tempted to think you have two weeks to put it right. Plus it motivates you to get weighed each week.

I'm really a stickler for the rules though and I think ideally you should get weighed weekly - they must say weekly for a reason. I know that I'm looking forward to my pharmacist taking maternity leave so I can return to my normal routine.

Hi Bettyboo, I only get weighed each week at the pharmacy I like the not knowing bit, it spurs me on. Good luck with your weight loss hun :)

Weighing weekly is best. Weight will vary through the week. You might get disheartened if you don't see the scales going down every day!!
Daisy is right that looking forward to WI keeps you going on days you feel like giving in.

Thank you guys! Will hide my scales so I don't get tempted... didn't do so well this week but feel today is the day when I am in the right mindset to just DO IT!!!

xx
