How Far Can You Walk?

Now that the weather is improving and the days are getting longer I am motivated to get out more and walk...I would like to build up to doing 5 miles (10,000 steps) a day, at present I am doing 1 mile (2,000 steps) ...it does involve a rather steep hill which at the moment is really testing me on the way back up. I am going to try to have a walk at least four to five days a week.

If anyone would like to join me in improving your fitness please add your name and tell me where you are now with your fitness and what your goals are. If walking is not your thing and you prefer another form of exercise or a combination of various activities please feel free to join in.

This thread is for support and a bit of fun without pressure and hopefully come summer we will all be a lot trimmer and fittter.

I will start...

Mini 2,000 steps a day - goal 10,000 steps

Today's steps 9,977

I managed to do 9,977 steps today...very happy!

I have a fitbit, they're great for calculating steps, most of us in the office have one and it's become a bit of a competition, practically fighting to take the post to the box! Most days I do 10,000 steps, the other day it was 15,827 spread out during the day, getting of the tram a few stops early, getting up and filing instead of letting it add up.

id love to start this too,
i work in an office but do very little walking around during the day,
anyone have any tips on how to increase my steps?
i already do the small things like take the stairs, park far away...

I try and remember to pace if I find myself having to wait somewhere eg bus stop

depending where it is you can look a little odd!

I love walking and have Dartmoor on my doorstep as well as the Devon coastal path ...Started out after I learned to walk again ( after accident ) doing a mile and worked my way up to between 20 - 30 miles a day now enjoying every step I take. All that lovely fresh air.....beautiful ! Good luck all
