Let's post variations to shakes and soup here!

    Hi everyone,

Surely someone has started a thread like this in the past but I couldn't find it. If there is a thread like this, point me to it. If not, let's crowd source a group of recipe variations--so that when we hit that moment where we need a little variety, we can come directly to this thread and find it.

I've found many good suggestions from reading other threads, but it would be easier to have them concentrated in one place.

I will be posting suggestions that I have tried personally which work well.

    ADD COFFEE
both to the vanilla and chocolate shakes. I add an 8 oz cup of my favorite brand (Peets!) but you can do this with instant powder too.

    ADD FIBER.
I add a half teaspoon of powdered fiber to every shake and to the soup now.

This has two benefits: first, it gives me all the fiber I need to keep my digestive system comfortable and regular during the diet. Second, it thickens the mix just a tad for a much better texture.

CAUTION: be careful about adding more than a half teaspoon because it makes the soup too gooey--an unpleasant texture for me--while a half teaspoon just thickens it just a bit which is perfect. You can experiment on what your own perfect texture measure is. But I do really like the improved consistency of slightly thickened shake and especially slightly thickened soup. My stomach feels fuller and more satisfied too.

CHOICE: I chose a super low cal, gluten free, natural version for my powdered fiber supplement. I am adding only 6-8 calories per shake. Not all fiber supplements are created equal in terms of calories and additives. So you'll need to read the labels before purchasing.

    SOUP ENHANCEMENTS

I've been grinding pepper into the empty bowl (but NO SALT as it makes you retain water weight)

I've also been adding a variety of hot pepper and chile flakes.

I read somewhere on the forum that Habanero Flakes work really well, but I haven't tried them yet

I read somewhere on the forum that adding a spoonful of curry powder makes for a nice change.

Anyone else have any soup enhancements to add? I could sure use them. The soup was my least favorite when I started. But once I changed the texture a bit with the fiber, I found it more tolerable. Now I look forward to it (well, as much as one CAN look forward to it) as savory break in the sweet routine of the shakes.

    STRAWBERRY SHAKES

I haven't tried the strawberry packets yet. I was worried they'd taste too artificial and that I would hate them. But I am hearing they taste much better with ice cubes added. Those of you who are drinking the strawberry shakes, are you putting the ice cubes in the blender with the shake, or just putting them into your shaker whole?

Anyone have enhancement suggestions for strawberry shakes?

    CHOCOLATE MINT SHAKE

Several people on the forum have suggested making a cup of peppermint tea and adding it to the chocolate shake. I tried this yesterday and it was a nice change.

    TIP

Make coffee and tea portions in the morning and as they cool, pour them into your shakers so when meal packet time comes, you just add the packet. You can carry the coffee in your shaker to work, so you are ready to mix.

I also add ice cubes when I add the packet because I prefer the drinks cold not hot.

I also add 8 ounces of water (though I've read on this forum that we aren't supposed to??) because it makes every shake 16 ounces and makes that extra 8 oz of water go down easier.

    LIPOTRIM LATTES

Quite a few people report drinking their Lipotrim vanilla or chocolate shake HOT with coffee added. They like the latte-ish taste and texture.

    MAKING CRISPS FROM LIPOTRIM SOUP

A forum member named "AND" posted this suggestion for an alternative soup recipe on another thread today. I haven't tried it, but it sounded so creative I thought I would post it. So here it is, verbatim from "AND"

"With the soup try mixing into a paste with a batter consistency then putting teaspoon dollops onto greaseproof paper. 1-2 mins in microwave and you've got 'crisps'... Be careful though because the timing between raw and burned is only about 15 seconds.

Yes I know LT say don't cook anything but if it makes you stay dieting longer it's a good thing. "

    Thanks "AND"!!

    COFFEE WHITENER

I just read an old post that suggested saving a small part of your vanilla shake to add to your coffee as a whitener. Brilliant!

    LIPOTRIM CHOCOLATE MOUSSE

If you need variety, you can make your chocolate shake packet into a mousse by mixing it with less water, then freezing it in a shallow bowl for 10-15 minutes. Eat with a tiny spoon to extend the sensation that you are actually eating instead of drinking.

P.s I also did the microwaving of the chocolate one, (this one is fairly difficult but you use only a tiny bit of water until it is quite a tough mix (quite hard to actually do - but worth it ) with a sweetener and microwave for a minute, turns into a dense cakey consistency

p.s cinnamon in my chocolate mousse always works a treat for me!

I tried a bit of coffee in my vanilla shake this morning and it was fit! Guna start leaving some water in the fridge so I can have a nice chilled vanilla latte in the morning. Boom!

Just thought, why not mix half vanilla shake with half chocolate shake and add coffee and ice cold water?!
