Survived Day 1 of LLT Diary

So Wednesday was my first day on Lighter Life Total. I was fairly eager to start, especially as I've 4 stone to lose. Hopefully a fair bit of this will go before February 2013, but I'm sure Christmas time will be a challenge.

The day didn't start so well as I lost my water supply due to a burst pipe down the street. I hadn't got any bottled water in advance, I usually filter, and so I had to trek to the supermarket first thing before I could have my first packet.
I was fairly sure I'd like the first pack I opened, Raspberry Porridge, as I imagined it would be 'sweet' or something. But I found it awful and was gagging my way through eating the prepared contents. Tasted to me like baking soda or something and was fairly sour. I pulled many faces
I tried adding sweetener but this didn't help :sigh:

Luckily, despite my fears after this first experience, the rest of the packets I choose to have were OK. I had strawberry, as a mousse, because I'm not too keen on watery shakes. This was followed later by Shepherds Pie and the Mushroom and Spring Onion pack.

I'm pretty looking forward to being able to add bars in next week as I've heard that most people tend to like these. Plus they're good on the go!

I struggled without milk in my tea. I'm not keen on black tea, and the sweeteners didn't help. I've also a big reluctance for drinking water so the lemon flavorings helped immensely. I'm hoping to pop into see my counsellor to swap the packets I dislike and to pick up some broth, which wasn't in stock when I did my order.

I've a slight headache at certain times throughout the day, but nothing too much. I've had plenty of 'mental' hunger but not too much belly rumblings. Hoping tomorrow goes well :D

Well done for getting through your first day and welcome to the forum .
Some packs are vile, but you will soon settle into the ones you like and get in the flow. I found the porridge the worst yuk! As for runny milkshakes I have a kenwood smoothie maker that I add ice to the pack and water and it becomes like a macdonalds shake.
I don't like lack tea either, so I drank either boullion ( which is available in Asda cheaper) or mint tea no milk, along with the water flavourings you will get used to it shortly.
Distraction helps, so lots of pamper stuff for you, like a lovely hot bath to warm up and chill, treat yourself to some lovely bubble bath, have a soak and read, it works well.
Focus ahead, your first popin weigh in will be amazing, you should be nearly in ketosis, so headache and hunger will be gone.
Good luck and keep posting
Jx

Heya zippie! Sounds like my day 1 too, although, it was hard enough without water issues! Poor thing. Keep updating on here. Even if it's becauae selfishly I just want to know someone else is on it too!

Swapping your packs if you dont like some is a fab idea. I don't know what id do without the powders, I have it in fizzy water all day long, but if I had to just have normal water id be doomed! Dull!

I tried the summer berries shake yesterday, really sad as hated it and thought I'd love it.

Keep on trucking! Xx

Day 2
This has come and gone without too many hassles. Water wasn't reconnected until this evening, and this is only temporarily as more they're doing more work tomorrow. But I've plenty of water bottles, so I'm as prepared for lack of mains and a nuclear fallout! ;)

Started the day off with a Vanilla pack and I added coffee to make a latte type drink, as near as it'll get anyway :D
I also had Minestrone (OK but not the best), Chilli (I ate it but I won't order this again: didn't look nice and I'm still trying to work out what it tasted of really - not any Chilli I've ever cooked:rolleyes:) and a Chocolate Mousse. This was OK too but I think I prefer the strawberry.

I popped into see my counsellor today briefly to swap my Raspberry porridge pack and to get some broth. Love the broth! Odd how I seem to be preferring savory things on this diet when I normally have a mega sweet tooth. Guess I've not tried the bars yet - roll on next week! :D
I had a quick check in chat with the counsellor and a quick weigh in (its only day 2 but I seemed to have lost a few pounds). Hopefully this will keep the course onto the official weigh in next Wednesday
No headaches today and not been feeling very hungry either really. Was tempted to nibble a chip on a plate I was preparing earlier, but didn't :)

Water drinking has been much easier with sparking water and some flavouring, so will stick to that.

Julz - I think I'll get some boullion, thanks for the tip! It seems virtually identical to the LL broth (but maybe a slightly higher salt content). Will check them out when I next pop to the supermarket.

Tilleymonster - Not tried the summer berries yet, whats it taste like? If its sour or like powder I've probably had a lucky escape.

Apparently there's a new Chocolate and mint flavour. Anyone tried it?

Day 3 tomorrow - apparently this could be a rough - I'm hoping to duck the trends :D

I wrote an entry yesterday but it seems to have vanished into the moderators bin in the sky:cry:If it doesn't appear I'll recap Day 2 later. Well I'm midway through 'Day 3' and feeling OK. Not particularly hungry or thirsty (although I know I need to drink, so will just force myself)

I've discovered that my hate of Raspberry Porridge also extends to the original porridge pack, which is annoying as I generally love porridge :sigh:

Julz and Tilleymonster - thanks :D Really appreciate the advice/support and interaction. Definitely going to try buying some boullion for use as a broth. Would be far cheaper, even if the salt content is a little higher

It seems I've tended not to like the meals so much but have liked most of the soups and shakes. Hoping I like the bars too. If they taste anything like the Slim Fast or Tesco brands, or even better, then I should be OK.

Day 3 started off well. I didn't particularly have any headaches or anything like that but I had moments where I felt tired of not having 'normal food' and felt a bit down in the dumps about it. Seemed like my brain was hungry today, kept thinking about food and what it tastes like. Also how long before I can actually eat it again :sigh:
I felt incredibly bad that I saw a few slices of thin cut ham in the fridge and just gobbled them, before I could even process a 'no':break_diet:On the plus side, at least it wasn't something with a million calories:rolleyes:
Managed to stay on track for the rest of the day and drank all the required water.

I also used the dip stick, that my counsellor gave me, and it turned dark pink when I done that. No idea what that means  but I'll check on Wednesday, unless anyone else knows?

Oh no! On both the lost entry and the porridge. :-( chocolate shakes for brekkers from now on? :) x

Oh and dark pink is ketosis but dehydrated I think. More water?! X

Thanks Tilleymonster :D Yes definitely more chocolate shakes - my counsellor gave me some chocolate mint today as well, so hoping its lovely!
The last two days were a bit tough. But I actually sat with two friends as they ate KFC whilst I had a prepared strawberry mousse and soda water!

Had my weigh in today and have lost 8lbs in my first week. This weeks LL session continued on 'Perception' and had some gems to think about, which is the idea I guess:cool:

Awesome weight loss! Well done! And also well done for watching others eat and not getting involved, it's going to be worth it.

I have some of the mint chocolate too, thinking to have it hot on Friday night. Let me know what you think.

Excellent work zippie! That's a brilliant set of losses. Keep it up! xx

OK I'm following Lighterlife but I'm going to be switching to Slim & Save. I've had an opportunity to taste their packs and they taste so much better and there's variety. Lighterlife packs were driving me nuts and there was limited selection! I'm also going to be saving over £100.00 a month. I've not found the LL counselling sessions that useful - in honesty I just want a weigh in with someone so I can't cheat myself! I've asked if my counselor would sill consider doing that (I'd still be happy to pay for that bit), but not hearing back yet I won't hold my breath. :sigh:
