Hi James only just came across this thread , delighted things are going well for your mam and well done to you for sticking with the exercise and eating well. It would have been so easy to choose a different option and go back to bad habits but you didn't. I bet your mother is really proud of you :-)

So 4 inch in last 5 odd weeks, ok but would of thought it would be a little more with the amount I lost but 37.5 inch in total gone.
4 pound down this week.
Done my knee in again, think it was the extra walking over the weekend.
I maybe should of rested it and not gone on the bike today but I took it easy and did 15 mins 5.3k and weights.
If it still hurts tomorrow I won't go on bike.
Well done James. Hope mum is progressing well too.
Cheers Jayne, Mum is doing ok still getting bad headaches but that's to be expected after major Brain surgery, they had her out of bed and in the chair again yesterday.
Right on que she is ringing my mobile
Hey just been reading through your thread, hope your mum is good? I used to work in neurosurgery so can imagine the stress you must be under!
Well done on your loss
Cheers hun, Mum is on the mend I think still getting things a little confused but is a bit more alert and "with us" now than she was. Still waiting on news if she needs a drain in permanent or not.
fingers crossed she doesnt but if she does it sounds worse that what it is hun, if you need anything explained i will try and help you if i can.
One thing I'm not sure about is if she has one permeant is how do you drain it.
I'm assuming she has a spinal drain in just now?
No they couldn't do a normal one for some reason, the drain is going straight into her head.
Ok it sounds like she has an evd then which is common after surgery as it diverts the fluid in the head away to allow healing. It looks scary but it's not too bad.
They will slowly start to raise the height of the drain to see if she can cope without it long term. Tumours block the flow of the fluid in the brain and now this has gone the pressure returns to normal so your mum has to learn to cope with the normal pressure which explains why she is dizzy etc.
If she needs a permanent drain it's all internal and drains the excess fluid into the tummy. I can explain in more detail if you need me too.
Yeah they are changing the levels ATM and have been for a few days now.
I understand now, as I thought she would have a tube permanently coming out her head lol
Knee is playing up again, so thinkI may rest it for rest of the week and not go on exercise bike, hopefully will still get a loss this week, but I know it wont be a big one with no bike
It's best that you rest your knee now for a week or so than damaging it and having to stay put for weeks
