    24 stone eek!

Hi everyone. I'm 22 and have struggled with weight for about 12 years. As I child I was active and not at all over weight, in my very early years I was underweight after being born premature. But now aged 22 and after many years of dieting and visits to doctors/nurses/dieticians/hypnotherapist I now weigh my heaviest at 24st10lbs (I'm 5ft10). I believe the start to my weight problems was due to poly cystic ovaries and for many years I used that as an excuse especially through secondary school, but when I look back now I realise it was the chips i ate for lunch everyday and the countless number of trips to the vending machine. I feel I've missed out on a lot of things, I've always felt quite self conscious and this has stopped me going out with friends etc therefore I've grown apart from my friends over the years. I have a boyfriend of almost 4 years and am very happy but I think that's my downfall we are both comfortable with each other and love our food. I've done lighter life, slimming world and ww in the past and have just started ww again. Every new year I say "I want to loose at least 4 stone this year" but I never do. But this time I really want to stick to it. I've started weight watchers again. Any tips and support I'm really grateful for (sorry for the essay) xx

Hello Gemima, I've not posted on here much but read through the posts every day. I joined WW 5 weeks ago at 23st. 11lb I now weigh 22st 5lb. I'm finding pp really liberating as I am eating the same food as my family but thinking about portion control. It's the first time I've followed a diet that doesn't add extra stress to my day to day life. I hope you find this place as motivational as I have!

Wow well done you're doing so well! Yeah I like the fact that you still can eat what you like. I ate a crunchie at work the other day and someone said "I don't think you're doing you're diet properly" but as I'm on 56 points I can still eat most things I would before. Xx

Hi Gemima, welcome - I started off at 21 stone and now weigh 17 stone 1.5lbs (as of this morning) my biggest tip would be to give it long enough to see results - if you can hang on for 12 weeks then it will be long enough for you to see a real difference and it's the daily changes that I notice that keep me motivated. Like trying a skirt on each week in a shop until it finally fits. Wearing a coats which was once to small but now it's too big, not getting out of breath climbing stairs anymore etc make sure your note these down and not just the numbers on the scale xx

Thankyou for that I never think about that I've tried diets before and have never stuck to it for 12 weeks, if I have a bad week I lack motivation to carry on and think I'll start again next week. I started ww at the beginning of the year at 23st12lbs and lost 2 stone, then I put the 2 stone on and another 1! I couldn't believe it. I'm not trying to set any big goals, I have pcos and seem to loss weight slowly but I'd really love to lose 4 stone by Xmas 2014 xx

Thanks chezz I just need to learn that if I have a bad day forget it the next day and carry on properly. I lost 4lbs today so I'm really pleased with that xx
