Hi Everyone,

Found minimins lately by chance googling mad crash diets. Go figure?! I've done them all. Everything going. And I'm still no smaller. Bigger in fact.

I'm at my heaviest. Even when I was pregnant 4 years ago I wasn't as heavy as I am now. I'm 20st 9. And at 5ft5 my bmi is through the roof.

Struggling for a while with things and I sometimes worry will I ever be happy with my weight.

Just wondering is anyone else here of similar weight. Could really do with a buddy. Just for the chat. I don't know about anyone else but sometimes I think the mental weight is worse than the physical. I am the "I'll start Monday" Queen. And a bad day Tuesday is a bad week.

Need to get out of that frame of mind

Louisa

Hello and welcome! :) I'm sure you'll find lots of buddies on this part of the forum who weigh similar or more than you. I was 21.5 stone when I started, so I know how daunting it can seem. All the very best. :) xx

Hi, I've not weighed myself but I'm roughly about 18st. Also my heaviest weight even through 3 pregnancies I wasn't as heavy as I am now. I'm forever putting it off. I'm scared to look at the scales but I'll have to bite the bullet at some point.

When my youngest was born almost 2 years ago, he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis so I've been on a downward spiral since then with my weight. I decided its time to reclaim my body and get my health back in order.

Hi Jacqui and Tracey.

Buddies in general would be fab. I probably shouldn't have said similar to my weight. As everyone's journey is different. Everyone has their reasons whether it's 10st or 2st.

I know what ye mean by running past the scales. When im doing ok I'm up on it every few hours. When im doing bad I run past it and before I know it im up another stone. Delaying tactics I like to call them. I'm amazingly skilled in the art of making excuses.

Hiya! I'm at the end of the weight loss phase of my journey, having reached target at the weekend, and embarking on the scariness of maintenance, which will definitely be the hardest part, lol. I look forward to reading about how you're doing, and cheering you on from the sidelines!! :) xx

How did you do it Tracey? Forgive me I'm new here. I'll eventually read thru all of your diary.
I find the 7st+ ahead of me daunting. And in a childish way I don't want to start properly and be accountable. How silly of me.

I'm just trying to adjust slowly. I want my weightloss to be permanent, so I'm not rushing how I do it. I've managed to stay away from the chocolate and crisps etc, so I'm happy with that. That in itself for me is an achievement even though it's only been a few days. Better than what I was like beforehand!

I'm a calorie counter - nice and steady, lol. :) xx

I am fortunate as I only have 3st to lose, however as said before whether 10st or 3 it is still hard. I have decided not to weigh myself at all ( apart from the weekly weighin) and rely on clothes hopefully shrinking to give me encouragement

Starting Weight watchers in the morning. Think I need to be answerable to the scales. And not my own ones, because I keep making up excuses to dodge the results going up not down.

I had a look at the plan on their site. I like the idea of it. Healthy eating with room to slightly splash out at the weekends without coming off plan.

Wish me luck. Will post up my start weight. And hopefully in a few weeks time I can look back and smile not cringe.

Hi Louisa, welcome! (And hi to everyone else too.)Louisa, well done with taking the plunge with WW, when I read your first few posts I worried about you weighing every few hours at home, it's really not healthy! I think the structure and weekly weighing of a slimming club is what works for me, I've been doing Slimming World since last January and when I started I was a little heavier than you with BMI of a little over 50. I'm 8 stones better off in just less than 14 months and it's AWESOME! Good look tomorrow at your first meeting, looking forward to hearing how you got on!

Weighed in at weight watchers class today. New member so start weight is 21st 2lb. Didn't expect that. Weigh in at 20st 8 at home. Oh well onwards and downwards. No more putting it on the long finger. Heaviest I've ever been. :(

Dauntingly long journey ahead

Louisa :)

Slow and steady is the way forward :) I started at 22 stone I think, it was so long ago I can't even remember! What do my stats say <-- and it can seem impossible.

The only advice I can give you is to truly celebrate each 1/2 pound gone. Don't be disheartened when you don't see massive losses. Perserverance and patience are your friends in this journey.

Looking forward to see how you progress.

Hi Louisa,

That's the hardest weigh-in you'll have, but if you put your mind to it, you'll never have to see that number on the scales again. There's plenty that can account for the differences in the scaels - I'm guessing you haven't got a stitch on when you get on them at home for a start! They will be calibrated differently, you'll have food and fluid accumulated in your body throughout the day, any number of things. The biggest piece of advice I can give is not to get on your scales at home again, only bad things will come of it.

Break that dauntingly long journey down into small pieces. I don't know how they do things at WW, but at SW we take it half a stone at a time. Slowly slowly catchy monkey!

Don't be too disheartened hun, this is the start of something good and positive for you, and we're all right here cheering you on! Looking forward to hearing how well your first week goes.

Hi I'm new to this 2 I started slimming world 5 weeks ago at 20.2lb decided needed to do something an make it stick the first weigh in was scary but it's getting better. An every pound that comes off makes me feel a bit better realise prob won't feel quite as good if I have a gain tho.. Good luck x

Ah thanks ladies.

I don't speak to many people about my weight. It's something very private to me. And only my husband knows the whole story. Its lovely to be able to talk to people who understand and don't judge.

Your all right about taking it slow. My problem all along was the quick crash diets. One after another that didn't work and only added to my problems. If I start now and keep the head down I could be a few stone down by next year. If I don't its another year sad and unhappy in my own skin. I'm not willing to do that to myself again.

Louisa x

hi lousia
good luck love im here for you x

Louisa I didn't talk to ANYONE about my weight either, not even my other half. I don't think I ever *looked* as heavy as I was, if you catch my drift, so it was easy not to talk about it because nobody really knew how much of a problem it was. You've been really brave sharing what you have so far, well done you! It's not easy. But there are lots of people here who have felt the same way and can really empathise. Just share whatever you're comfortable with and hopefully as you get a bit further into it things will start to feel al little easier. Hope you're feeling fabulously focused for your first WW week, I'm looking forward to hearing how it's going. Hang in there, you've done the hardest bit!

Hope SW is working for you so far hun, its definitely the best thing I've ever done. Hope those gains are few and far between and that if they come, it's because you've had a blimming good time!

Hi girls.

Thanks for the amazing support. Doing ok so far. Staying within my daily propoints. The weekend is looming and that's my normal trigger. The Saturday nights in with a takeaway. And cos I feel so bad for eating it. I binge on Sunday cos "I've ruined the diet anyway" feeling comes over me.
