New here, 8 stone to lose

Hi.
I've just joined this site and this group seems like just the place I need.

I'm 18.5 stone and need to get to 10 stone.

I have bought 14 weeks worth of M&S meal packs from Exante, so am banishing real food from my life from tomorrow.

I have to lose this weight... I really mean it this time.

Welcome - you'll find lots of support and help here :) I'm sure there's a specific Exante part of the forum too, but we'll help all we can!

Thanks Theria.

I haven't told anyone in RL about doing this diet, as I know they'll try to talk me out of VCLD, as I probably would have in the past, but I think it's difficult for thin people to understand how hard it can be when you're faced with such a lot of weight to lose.

Hope you're doing well lovely, welcome :) We're all behind you!

I understand about RL people - my mum was a bit funny when she saw I'd bought the slimfast stuff saying that it was just a fad and wouldn't work. Not doing too bad with heading onto almost 2 stone off just 5 weeks in though! You can do it!

Hi PrincessSparkle, congrats on your loss!

I started on Exante today, but spent last week eating only low carb and when I weighed today (I always weigh on Monday mornings, even when not dieting, a throwback to when I had big weekends and planning the damage limitation) I'd lost 8lbs, which has given me a good mental boost to get into this with gusto.

Yes, family and friends are difficult. I know it would come from love, but I know they'd just think it was unhealthy... Like being 8.5 stone overweight IS?
So, I'm just telling them I'm low carbing. If I'm out with them I'll eat some fish and veg to keep them off my case. Maybe I'll come clean once I'm well on my way.

Has your mum changed her opinion, now? Have you done meal replacement diets before?

Thank you lovely - and a huge congrats on already dropping into a new stone range - that must be a good boost to see the 17 there rather than the 18 to start with :)

We can do it all together - well done lovely :) Perhaps when they see it's working they might understand that you've made your decision and it's ok because you know what you're doing.

It's a little different for me in that I'm my mums carer so when she eats - I eat. Before I was making her meals and then I'd have say... a couple of slices of toast and nutella, or some weetabix for each meal. I just wasn't getting hungry and, to be honest, each meal tasted the same, caused painful problems and also had an after taste of bleach - drinks did the same too. My mum was getting worried that I wasn't eating so she's rather pleased that I do finally appear to be eating something - even if it is a meal replacement shake for 2 meals. And well... they're working!

I've since (in the last 2 weeks, 3 weeks after I started Slim Fast) been diagnosed with acid reflux which explained a LOT.

Slight problem now is that the slimfast + my AR meds are making it impossible for me to use the toilet properly and I'm frequently getting days where I haven't gone for a couple of days and take Dulcalot to be able to go. Going to have to speak to the doctor to see if there's anything different that he can offer :)

But no, before this I hadn't done anything for meal replacement :)

Hope it works out for you lovely, we're here for you! :)

Hi Chezz,

Thanks for saying hi! I'm only on day 1, but feeling positive. I have my diary over on the Exante group, but should really start posting elsewhere too. What diet are you doing?

So, I've been having a mixed experience on Exante. Some days I'm fine, but other days the thought of eating one more pack of weird powder-food makes me physically sick. Anyway, I'm down to 17st 4lb, so 17lb off since I started, so not too bad considering I've been on and off the plan.

Oh hun, it sounds like it's definitely not for you. If you're throwing them back then you've got no goodness in your tummy so going hungry :(

Massive well done on the 17lb loss lovely :D xxx
