Back on track...again!

H,i I am new to the forums, but I am hoping joining will help keep me on track. I have lost weight before, and I know I can do it again. But my problem seems to be if I diet in secret I also cheat in secret and end up getting nowhere.

I have been a member of weight watchers for a while now and I do find that getting weekly weigh ins help keep me motivated. My biggest problem however is if I have a bad week, then I make excuses and don't go to that weeks meeting, then spend the following week losing the weight I have gained the previous week. So I end up in a cycle of doing well for a week then having a small gain the week after, so although I am not gaining weight, I'm also not losing it very well either.

Also does anyone seem to self sabotage their efforts when they are near a goal? I am 1lb away from being under 20st and I know if I track and eat within my points allowance, then I will definitely reach that goal easily. But for the last few weeks I just seem to ruin all my efforts.

However, I am going to get weighed at my meeting tomorrow and I am determined to get back into weight loss mode. Because I know I can do it when I put my mind to it...its just keeping motivated!

You could be writing my life story! Self sabotage, yo-yoing... yep. I can definitely relate.

One thing that might help would be finding a weight loss buddy. Someone to go through it with you, so you can keep each other on track, motivate each other to attend the meetings, and maybe exercise together. It helps if it's someone who is likely to be motivated, rather than someone who will suggest you skip the meeting and get pizza, of course. ;)

You have lost weight, so you are definitely making progress. 12 lbs is a great start! Just keep trying, and start each day fresh. Forget what happened yesterday, since you can't do anything to change it, and just focus on trying your best right now. That's what has worked for me, at least.

Good luck! xx

Thank you!
Have recently dropped the fads, I was having meal replacements shakes etc etc...but have gone back to basic calorie counting. If I'm in the right frame of mind then the meal replacements work, but I just can't seem to stick to the plan for a prolonged amount of time, so end up having all the foods I've missed throughout the week in a big blow out.
I think a weight loss buddy would help so will try and get find one, or at least keep updating on here so I keep motivated.

Also well done on your weight loss...you've done amazingly!

Well just got back from my meeting and not quite sure how but I have lost 2lb. So I have now lost a stone in total and I am finally under the 20stone mark!

So relieved to finally be into the teens. Much more motivated to stay on track for the next week now :)

Hello my twin!!

I've been there, done that often!

I agree with everyone who says find a diet buddy :)

Hello that's me too, quite a few of us, I imagine - so we will battle it together :)

And well done on the loss, hun, really well done!

Yeah it's so much easier when you know other people are in the same boat. That's why even though I don't always use the pro points system I still try and go to weight watchers meetings. It helps me if I get weighed at the same time on the same scales each week. Plus there's the fact that there scales are more reliable so if I have gained then I can't use the excuse that it's the scales that are wrong lol.

Well had my weigh in today and ive lost another 3lb. Thats purely from using my fitness pal. So glad to be well under the 20st mark. Don't ever want to go back there again x

Well done on your loss Alex :D

Wow! That's a huge step in itself lovely - seeing that 1 in front of your numbers instead of a 2. Well done well done WELL DONE! :)
