Blue's Daily Diary

I'm back on the little blue pills.
4 years ago I did really well taking xenical, stupidly came off them for my birthday weekend and never went back on them.
Over the last 4 years I have been trying (and failing miserably) various VLCD's and I've finally come to the conclusion that they do not work for me in the long term. Yep I lose loads in the first week but then I fall off the wagon and start eating again.
Xenical has been the only thing that has worked for me because I can't eat anything 'bad' even if I want to coz I'm too scared of the side effects!
The only difference this time round is that I wont be able to exercise as much as I did last time. Last time I was going to the gym 3 times a week, swimming, playing badminton and doing pilates.
Sadly some things happened a couple of years ago and I can barely leave my house these days due to anxiety.
I have bought an exercise bike though and need to get my wii back off my mum so I'll be doing some exercise.

I am going to try and write daily in here because having a diary helps I think.
My stats are over there <<<<<
I've taken photos so I will have some 'before' shots.
The one I have added was taken at my brothers wedding on 21st June 2014, I was the same weight then as I am now and I don't mind showing this one. Hoping to NEVER be this weight again...it's the heaviest I have been in my life :wave_cry:

Well day 1 went fine.
My food for the day came to about 1500 calories.
I did have a grumbly tummy at the end of the evening though, I need to find some low cal and low fat snacks...something that isn't fruit.
I miss crisps!
When I did xenical before Tesco did some crisps called potato thins and they were well within the xenical rule but they don't seem to sell them anymore :( Gutted!
I also used to have ryvita minis and weight watchers hula hoops but can't find either of those either!!

I'm having trouble (already!)
I'm clocking everything I eat in MFP but yesterday I went over my sugar allowance by nearly 20! I'm not sure if I should be too bothered because the fat and cals are both under and fine, I suppose I can't try and get all the numbers right to start with.
Maybe I eat too much fruit...21g sugar in a banana???

Day 1 I was bloated. Yesterday and today things have sorted themselves out and I'm feeling lighter already! :D

I know last time I did xenical the weight came off really quickly but I was exercising nearly every single day. This time I am only able to do a little cycling on my exercise bike at home and do things like jogging on the spot/jumping jacks/running up and down the stairs.
I've found some simple exercise videos on youtube so I may give them a go...only problem is my living room is a silly shape so not much room to do things.

Feeling very positive though.

Thank you PurpleRoses :)

Have gone over my sugar allowance again today, but cals are waaaay under and so is fat.
I'm eating the same sorts of foods as I did last time on xenical and I lost lots of weight so I'm just going to do what I did last time, focus on cals and fat.

The myfitnesspal site is telling me I am nearly 1000 calories UNDER for most days.
I know if my calories are too low then I will struggle to drop down if/when my weight loss stalls.
I should probably up my calorie intake a bit, try and get closer to 1800 to start with maybe.
But how??
Any ideas how I can add about 300-500 extra cals a day?
I am taking xenical so have to be really careful with fat content and I'm vegetarian so can't snack on ham/chicken.

Jeez I never thought I'd be struggling to add food, I'm usually always hungry!

No wonder you had a grumbly tummy! :) I know nuts are fatty, but they're a sort of good fat? I don't know how they'd go with orlistat though... berries are relatively low calories per gram amount, however they do add up quickly if you have a fruit salad or snack on them a few times a day? like 100g is roughly 50 calories from blueberries and cherries etc.

slices of toast will help eat at least 100 calories up - especially if using the white bread (warbutons blue wrapper is 90 something a slice, hovis medium is the same... not too sure about brown/wholemeal bread as when we have those we tend to use the weightwatchers ones and we've got a little sick of them now (they're like 50cals a slice though but far too thin for toast) If you have peanut butter you'd adding a further almost 100 per tbsp

Fruit pastles are 180(something), what about a small bar of choc as a treat?

Are velvet crunch crisps any good for you? Northern Snack Foods | Velvet Crunch Available in asda, tesco and poundland (and probably elsewhere)

Hi PSP (love your name btw!)
Thank you for your reply, sadly I can't eat nuts or chocolate as both too high in fat. The xenical can't tell between good fats and bad fats so any fat is a no-no for me!
I only eat brown bread but could have a slice of that extra a day I guess.

The only thing with adding fruit is I'm worried about having too much sugar, MFP is already telling me I'm having too much sugar a day. I'm borderline diabetic so don't want to push my luck with having too much sugar.

Once I get into the swing of things I will stop taking xenical so I can add nuts and seeds to my diet, and eggs. I'm sure that'll help.
For now though I think if I stop the tablets I'd be tempted to eat naughty stuff :(

Today's food - Mon 11th Aug 2014. Day 4.

Breakfast
- 50g Tesco special flake cereal (dry)
- 1 banana

Lunch
- 1/4 packet (about 100g) Tesco spinach and ricotta tortelloni
- Cherry tomatoes
- Cucumber
- 1 tesco low fat toffee yogurt

Dinner
- 3 slices medium wholemeal bread

- Weight watchers spaghetti with parsley
- 1 banana

Not a great food day today. Feels like it's been way too carby and not enough salad and veg.

That really is a bind isn't it :( I'll have another think , see if I can come up with anything else for you :)

Thank you very much :)

Ok, I need some new bras. I have never been measured properly and usually buy lots in different sizes (from simply be) and try them on until some fit!
The one I am wearing in the picture in my OP fitted pretty well, although the band was a little tight and that was a 44E

I've just had a go on the Gossard bra size calculator where you put your measurements in and it's telling me I am a 50G!!!!!
I don't get how, my boobs only just about fill an E cup!

Hi Blue - coming to subscribe!

You and I are a similar starting weight, and I know we can crack this!

I really love the sound of your menus - but like Sparkles, I'm not sure what to suggest to up your cals - I struggle with the same thing, when I'm good I'm happy on 1400 cals a day, but I don't have the xenical challenge! Just a tendency to drink bucketloads of high cal wine!

Hi ladyfelsham, thanks for stopping by :) Is that your cat in your profile pic?
We are almost exactly the same starting weight....yes we CAN do this! How are you getting on so far?

I'm glad you like the sound of my menus, I need to do a shop so I'm eating sort of the same things all the time but it's healthy and all within my cals and fat for the day.
Who would have thought you could eat chips on a diet, it's definitely not all salad over here!!

No hun it's just a pic off the net that took my fancy :) Pics of my baby below.

I'm Ok but it has been a bad year with family deaths etc, so I have been sabotaging myself without a second's thought - but I do believe CCing is the best way to lose weight, I just need to stop going crazy! :)

I agree :) CC is amazing. It's just so hard to think of things that fit in with your requirements :) maybe milk? yoghurts and (a small amount of) cheese too?

@ladyfelsham, sorry you've had a bad year with family deaths and stuff, always hard to stay on plan with things like that going on :(
Your cat is a cutie! I adopted an 11 year old cat when I moved house this March, I'll have to post some pics of her. They are great for company :)

@psp I wish I had stuck with calorie counting years ago, I started off well and lost about 4 stone in 4 months and then goodness knows what happened but I started faffing around with VLCD's and I just couldn't stick to them so I would lose a little bit of weight (usually a stone in the first week) and then fall off the wagon and gain that back and more, rinse and repeat!
Cheese is also a no-no while taking xenical, the only stuff I can have is cottage cheese and an extra light cheese spread from tesco.
I may try eggs (and stay home near the bathroom!) Some people taking xenical are fine with eggs and they would be good to snack on and I could start making crustless quiche and omelettes, yummy :D

Hi hon! Just to let you know I used to eat nuts every day when I was on Xenical, and didn't have any problems - it's really a matter of experimenting to find out what works for you, as the 5% is just a recommendation, everyone's different. Just make sure you do any testing when you're not at work, lol. Alternatively, just eat more carbs to try to increase your intake. I agree that you definitely need to up your calories so you can stick to this long term. :) xx
