I want to be a healthy BMI for graduation!

Hi,
I'm a 2nd year student midwife and since starting the course I have put on 3-4 stone... I was overweight pre-course but the stress and shifts have just exacerbated everything and as of Thursday 13th I weighed in at 20st 10lbs (290lbs!!!!). I made the decision to start taking orlistat/xenical, hoping that the fear of side effects would be enough and so far I seem to be doing ok. I start back on placement tomorrow (night shift) and am feeling good because I have already got my meals planned out! I'm currently a size 22/24 and I am hoping to get down to a 14 (or less) by the time I graduate (I am also hoping I will graduate!) and am using the motivation of a nice dress as motivation. I have always been a bigger girl but now it's getting ridiculous and I feel really fat and I'm starting to feel unhealthy whereas before I just felt fat!

My first weight in will be Thursday. I am really nervous in case I don't get a good loss. I would like to get under the 20st bracket by Christmas so 11lbs in 6 weeks is totally doable right?
Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday afternoon. I have an assignment to write... ironically it's on public health lol

Love the snowlady's plan to melt away inches & agree would be fab if we could do that!

Welcome to WEMITTs and good luck on your journey :D

I imagine many of us would just end up as puddles if we could lol

Thanks. It's SUCH big site. Trying to get my bearings ;/

Welcome lovely - good luck! Both for your journey and your course! (and your assignment!) xx

welcome love its group of people and you will get loads of help here x x x x

Thanks all. Have been asleep much of the day in preparation for my nightshift... stayed up until stupid o'clock last night assignment writing to be woken up this morning by my beautiful boys arguing about lego or something just as. meaningful. I had breakfast (banana sandwich - no butter/marg) and then fell asleep and was out from just before midday until 3.30pm!!! Have just had an apple and made my pack up (Ham salad sandwich, carrot sticks, celery, sultanas and a variety of fruit in case I get super hungry during the night (It's my first night shift back in a while and first since starting dieting so trying to be prepared). Just about to jump in the bath whilst hubby makes some beans on toast (what my 5 year old requested). I don't normally have this much bread, my only saving grace is that it's not white bread it's a yummy seeded loaf.
I keep walking past my scales and wanting to have a sneaky weigh but trying to hold out until Thursday!
Hope everyone is well!

Welcome Teacup! Love the snow people picture!

Well done on being so organised for work tonight, I think organisation is 100% the key to success with this whole weight loss thing.
I'm with you on the big site thing, I'm not good at keeping upto date with forums but I really want to use it as a support this time so I'm just sticking to the WEMITTS board and this lovely lot on here are already being so helpful and supportive. I do venture over the recipes sections on the other boards but I just pinch the ideas and don't post- naughty me!

Hope you have a good first night back x

Well I survived and resisted cake and toast (with butter). Off to bed now, Try and get a couple of hours but don't want to sleep too much or I won't sleep tonight and I'm 7am-7.30pm Weds.

Well I've been up since 11.30am (2.5 hours sleep!) and I've had 'breakfast' 1 x piece of seeded bread with 2 poached eggs and an apple. Going to have a mug shot and a banana around 2.30-3pm and then yummy leek and potato soup for dinner with some crusty bread and some fruit... not sure what fruit as will depend on what I fancy.
Have been contemplating getting in some rich tea biscuits as a treat. Do you think it would be a bad idea? I would limit myself to 2 with a cuppa... bit worried as I feel I'm an all or nothing kind of girl but I also feel like I can't deny myself everything or won't last...

Found you! Food sounds lovely, i love seeded breads. Tea biscuits are are low in fat so i think your safe to have a few, your in this for the long haul so no point restricting yourself too much which will eventually leave u feeling frustrated. Theirs also tea fingers which is about 24 cals each.

Hope your having a great day xxx

I have just had 3 rich tea biscuits with my cuppa... feeling very naughty he he. They hit the spot and I don't have the urge to scoff more so strangely proud of myself.
2 more sleeps until first weigh in... feeling nervous and excited x

I love your motivation, well done for keeping going :)

Sometimes nothing else will do but a biscuit - especially in this weather.

Aww thanks. Hoping it lasts!

I agree about the biscuits... I've always been partial to a rich tea... I'm just happy they are one of the lowest in fat!

Got a long shift tomorrow on wards, hopefully it won't be too manic... I won't hold my breath! lol

thats what i need to get some rich tea fingers x x

Well back from my day shift... a very odd shift I must say.
So breakfast was weetabix with a banana. I forgot to grab my lunch on the way out today (I hate mornings). So I had to use the staff canteen... avoided the hot food as I wasn't sure what the fat content was... all the sandwiches were too high in fat (lowest was 9% for a basic chicken sandwich!) so I had a box of salad and apple with a diet coke.
I did end up having a lindt chocolate things... but just had the one so I am hoping I can avoid any side effects :/
When I got home I had two rounds of toast with spicy sauce... I was just SO hungry. I am going to have a cuppa and probably head to bed. I should really do some work but I'm exhausted.

Well done for avoiding the bad things. That's the only problem about eating out in places like that where there's little to no info :( Well done for only having the one xx

Well first weigh in... 6lbs off :)
Gone forever.... never to be seen again!
