    So many choices - help

    Hello folks

I am currently following the VLCD - Exante diet, its grand and working fine but I am coming off for a few weeks and want to follow a low carb diet to maintain, or even lose a few lbs (I have plenty to lose still

I dont know which plan to follow though - is there a correct answer to this or is it just a try it and see approach.

Low carbing works quite well for me and I dont get any major carb cravings or miss the junk food much either.

There are just so many choices that its confusing some say cheese is fine, some say no moderate it etc
I look on packets and they say 0.1 g of carb per 100g which sounds good but dont know if it is 'safe'.

I just want to go to Asda/Tescos etc and buy a pile of stuff that I can have when I like, some of it easy to take to work and crack on dieting till I return to Exante.

Have you got any tips for me ?

    Many thanks

I'm pretty new to the whole low carb thing. I just read enough to understand the basics, and then made up my diet myself. I only bought the Atkins book (and Protein Power by Drs Eades) a few weeks ago. If you are looking for good advice Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution is the way to go if you ask me.

The general rules of low carb seem to be the same for most plans. I certainly ate things that aren't allowed on Atkins induction (berries, nuts, milk) and still lost weight at a fair old rate. As long as you stick to the basics I'm sure it will be fine.

If you have a look on the Atkins boards there's LOADS of information in the stickies, and more people to ask.

It's also worth googling 'paleo' and 'caveman diet', and reading 'Mark's Daily Apple'. It's about fresh real food. Some also use dairy and others don't. I think it's best to do whatever won't stimulate cravings. So maybe test both ways and see?

I lost my first stone eating low carb the paleo way - and will return to it when I've shed 100lbs+ for maintenance.

    Good luck!
