Hi Melxx,

I'm currently a week into a pesceterian low carb diet (I eat fish and sea food). I've been cooking tofu, stir frys, omelettes, lots of natural full fat yogurt and Greek yogurt. I've been snaking on olives, mixed nuts, mixed summer fruit, a bit of cheese here and there (although this may slow weight loss a bit) and the occasional square of dark 85% chocolate. I've also had some lovely tuna salads with dark fresh veggies and the frozen type. Surprisingly, I've found that the food has curbed my appetite and has helped with cravings. I've lost 6 pounds this weeks, so am pretty thrilled, although I've been told that most of that is water weight and the real fat loss will start over the next couple of weeks. I hope that has been helpful. Good luck with your journey!

Good luck, look forward to hearing how you get on! :)

You can also include quorn and other vegetable protein products. Get a recent Atkins Diet book from the library and read the chapters about vegetarian Atkins. I've heard that losses aren't quite as fast as on regular, animal protein low-carb diets but vegetarians don't really have an alternative.

Cheese is great but very high in calories. So are nuts. And both can be more-ish. When I low carb just a bit too much cheese or too many nuts ALWAYS slows me down or stalls me. And beware of low carb bars that are full of polyols and other sugar substitutes. Some people have no problem with these but others stall and stall.

Low carbing is a fantastic way to lose weight and maintain. My problem is not being able to stick to any diet for long. I used to be 'stronger' years ago but lately I cave-in too easily.

Im an occasional vegetarian / vegan / trying to cut down on meat person
I find that soya protein powder mixed with soya or hemp milk and some low carb veggies , I stay away from fruit when I can, and also I cave and have chicken or fish or steak,
I do use protein shakes daily though, it's the only low carb breakfast I can tolerate and sometimes have a double portion in the evening instead of a meal. In ketosis and eating nearly 1000kcal a day currently, but not totally without the help of meat
