Under 20 carbs, 5 miles a day and no ketosis?!

I am completely stumped.. I go to the gym almost everyday and run at least 5 miles. I've cut my carb intake down to around 20g a day and would like to know if this is enough to put me in ketosis as I'm simply not losing any weight? I have been eating stuff with aspartame and had some nuts etc but I assumed having such few carbs and doing cardio it would negate the impact on ketosis. Am I wrong? Is it possible to eat such few carbs, excercise and still not go into Ketosis? Ketostix show no ketones, I've had no symptoms (as I've had before on CD eg. getting cold constantly and bad breathe!) and scales/inches not budging ... all rather depressing

Nuts can be high in carbs, and aspartame can have a negative impact on your loss as well. How long have you been doing it for??

No ketones = no ketosis...I think the carb levels on CD are higher than 20g...so you must be consuming too many calories to go into ketosis therefore...you have to cut calories (isn't it 500 per day to lose 1 pound of fat per week or something like that?), not just the carbs to go into ketosis and to lose the fat...does this make sense?

Just remembered if you have just begun on a low carb diet then you need to be only getting carbs from non-starchy vegetable sources for the first two weeks (according to Atkins and other sources this is the induction phase and gets you into ketosis). No fruit, flour, starchy vegetables (yams, potatoes, parsnips, corn, peas, beets, carrots, etc) alcohol, no trans fats (hydrogenated oils), cereals, bread, sugar, milk, condiments with added sugar, cottage cheese, nuts and seeds, grains, rice, pasta and AVOID aspartame (no diet drinks either), only use splenda and the safe sugar-like sweeteners...up your water intake too...

This may or may not help...strict two week induction, but if it gets you into ketosis?!
