Strictly speaking (they tell me) you aren't supposed to share this with your nearest and dearest. It has to be a responsibility that you take on yourself and not share in case a part of you tries to do this to please or displease someone else.

    Know what you mean though

Well, it's been 2 months since I've overeaten Okay, that might not sound much, but for me it's a blooming miracle!

I was thinking back to my last binge attack. I was so disappointed in myself. So scared that I had lost the plot.

If only I knew about this AD earlier. I had been working on my 'habit', but not fully understood what was going on. Now I'm at ease with it, knowing that it's just a one off, that I'm not doomed.

Every day gets easier and easier. Not that it's been difficult for the last year or so, just gaining more confidence.

I used the addictive desire method to give up smoking, so why did it take me so long to realise that I could use it for eating? Doh!

    Still...got there in the end.

    Life in Karionland:
New TV delivered this morning and I'm watching DH and DS2 wire it up to the Tivo etc. Guess they will have to use the instruction book in the end, but I'll break that to them gently At the moment they are on stage 3.... "Shouldn't that bit go there?"

DS1 has moved out. He moved out about 2 months ago. This is a terrible thing to say, but it's so much more relaxed around here

Love him to bits and all that, but he just needs so much of my attention. He still pops in for a chat and seems to be happy in the flat where he is living

Loving the summer holidays. Usually I get depressed and long to get back to school. Perhaps it's because DS1 isn't here I just feel that I can get on with doing my own thing when and how I want.

Actually, don't think I want to go back to school now. Perhaps I should retire? Nah..just taken on more hours there, so I guess they wouldn't be too amused. Besides...I need the dough!

If anyone finds it, please hide it somewhere.
TV is up and running. Quite easy to set up really even with Tivo. v+ ordered and coming on Saturday

Just had a good lunch and should be happy as larry, but for some strange reason I suddenly feel very tearful. Not sure what's going on.

Excellent. Now you can sit back relax and do nothing but watch your new tv

Just had a good lunch and should be happy as larry, but for some strange reason I suddenly feel very tearful. Not sure what's going on.
Hope you're ok now and the walk made you feel better. We are complicated beings, I have little spells of this and if DH or one of the kids catches me and asks what's wrong, they think I'm gaga when I tell them nothing is wrong! But sometimes there simply isn't any reason. having a good cry is a release for me, I always feel good afterwards, so I class it as a good thing

We've been umming and ahhing about getting it. We love Tivo, so wasn't sure whether we needed another gadget, but we needed to upgrade phone, internet connection etc. Didn't work out much more to get the whole caboodle. Not sure how we are going to connect them altogether mind you, but sure I'll find a way

Thanks Lacey. Weird innit. Can't be hormones. Past that I think Was feeling so cheery too, then all of a sudden Bang! Huge drop in confidence (not on the dieting side...just everything else)

Oh! I'm sooo pleased. Was beginning to wonder why I was bothering I know we all have to find a way, but I hate seeing people struggle and so want to find a way for everyone. Impossible though

    It's a man thing
I wanted to just say "right..put that there, and this here", but I had to remember that men have little to test their masculinity these days. Will keep them happiest if I spend time each week gasping at how well they parallel park, throw a ball, and sort out wires. Keeps them feeling useful

I think this post is so very helpful

What can I say, what you talk about is so true, I have never thought about it before. But I understand now, life is what we make it and the choices we make in it are our choices........ AD I had never come across it..... It is funny, but earlier today... (I'm still up, had to read all this thread when you pointed me to it), any way like I said.... earlier today I was thinking back to when I stopped smoking over 5 years ago. I realise now that I was/am addicted to food, this has really only been an issue over the last 6 years, but it has been forming all my life, through life patterens and ways of eating living I have learnt............ So as I was saying I was thinking that I had the willpower and my brain was in the right place to make the no smoking choice, my brain was then in the right place to make the choice to do the SS CD and it is only now I have found the going so very hard. So now you have introduced AD to me, it will give me a handle to use to over come the hard bits and the little green men inside my head telling me to eat everything I like quick before I have to SS again. (I keep getting to the point where I need to be on the plans and then falling of the waggons, got to 790 then back up a few pounds to sS again, I've done this 3 times.....).

So now all I need to do is try get through the being hungry bit and looking into this AD thing and asking you for tips...... if that is ok. I have always understood that this will be hard, keeping the weight off will be hard, but I have looked forward to planning my eating, like you really, learning about a different way of eating, portion sizes etc etc etc. I know I don't need to eat more or as much as my hubby. But until I pass this next hurdle I can't get to that stage.

Thanks for the thread, the knowledge that I have and AD which doesn't need to be acted on really does help and trust me, whilst I am not NOT going to put it on, I was worried it would be a horrid battle for years, if I can understand my AD and learn to say oh yes, fancy a cream bun, but not having one today, I may just have a better chance of staying the distance.
Sorry for any typos, really late now and my eyes are shutting.....

    Thanks honey for your help.
    And this is for you......

And this is for you also, hope you are feeling better soon .

    Night Night
    Luv Chitty....

That's it Chitty. Some people never accept that they are addicts, so then the idea of AD won't work for them.

It's kind of tough to work out what is addictive eating and what isn't. It's not as clearly defined as smoking. You either are smoking or your not. Of course, you can't just stop eating.

So we must continue to desire food. We just want to act on it less than we were doing before.

We could probably consider anything that we eat which is beyond what we actually need to keep us alive and healthy as addictive desire, but then even the healthy slim people eat things beyond beyond that. So it's not getting rid of it all entirely, just doing less of it.

Notice that I say healthy slim people as many slim people aren't healthy and often don't eat normally either. Diet on/diet off forever, bulimea etc.

Yes I agree with you, lots of slim people are seriously unhealthy.

I don't think week on a diet week off a diet is very good for you....

But hay one step at a time for me. I need to get back to SS. I've had a day off today, for all the wrong reasons, I've eat the wrong food just like I used to. I have been thinking all day about the AD thing and know when I have finished SS it will really help me. But that's it isn't it, my brain said I didn't need to do that today.... now if it had I wouldn't have had the pick and mix or the sausage roll.......... I've a long way to go, but I will get there.

    Thanks Honey....
I am turning off for the day now.
I need to get on with the rest of my life.
