Sleep problems

If you think alcohol helps you sleep, you're not alone. A government survey found that 58 per cent of Brits are unaware that alcohol can disrupt sleep.

Although it's true that alcohol will help you fall asleep faster, it interferes with the normal sleep cycle, causing you to wake up during the night and feel unrefreshed in the morning.

Alcohol is also a diuretic, and stimulates the body to excrete fluid, making it more likely you will need to go to the loo during the night.

Water all the way! :waterbottle:

Caffeine can be a killer alright.

They say if you are failing to get to sleep the best thhing to do is get out of bed, the logic being that you will subconciously begin to associate being unable to sleep with being in your bed/bedroom. Thus prolonging the problem. So general advice is, go downstairs or into another room and read for a while until you feel ready to sleep.

Sleep plays a huge part when it comes to weight loss, I like to get in at least 8 hours sleep a day for me to function properly as you can burn up to 1600 calories on an 8 hour sleep

If I don't sleep well it affects how much I eat the next day, I always eat much more after not much sleep.
There are also the calories in alcohol to think about too.

Took me one night to work that out - only a few weeks ago but it's curbed my ideas that i can have a drink late in the evening for the hell of it

just decided to give up coffee today !! it will help my sleep but i think i'm giving it up long term because ground coffee is so expensive and i just over spent
