Popped into the local Thornton's Cafe yesterday. Oh my. It's the first time I've been there ..

Had 1/2 slice of apple shortbread. Delicious. More like a very light sweet apple pie. Also had 1/2 a danish pastry and two free thornton sweets

Aaah, but the drink. 1 toffee chocolate. They asked me if I wanted marshmallows or cream and I said "both" because I was feeling rebelious. DH nearly kicked me

So ate the cream with a spoon, then the lushious warm, melting marshmallows, drank the chocolate and was left with the most gorgeous thick, warm liquid toffee (spoon job again

)

Oh my, truly yum and coming in a approx 4 million calories for the lot

Was angelic enough to skip lunch

Never heard of Thornton's Cafe before. Are they new or just down your neck of the woods?

lol last august we were in durham for the weekend for my bfs birthday and we discovered the thorntons cafe! evil place

i had a death by chocolate (or something to that nature) hot chocolate, which had chocolate ice cream in it, choc chunks and whipped cream and i had some chocolate swirl cheesecake too

sooo sickly but sooo good! maybe one day when im slim ill treat myself to one of those again lol

It's so rare for me to even go in a cafe. Certainly is nice to be able to eat the odd stuff like that without feeling embarrassed at that everyone is looking at me and wondering why I'm not dieting.

theres one in newcastle eldon square.. its upstairs in the thorntans there.. never been in like.. but my mate used to work at thorntons.. and i swear to god.. shes the reason im fat.. or partly.. i used to go sit with her sometimes when she worked. and she worked on the chocolate fountain.. so we used to make our own.. Lol.. with marshmallows and fudge.. omg.. soooo lush.. we used to get free sweets too.. lol! heaven.. she quit though.. thank god..!

i'm SO GLAD we don't have one in caerdydd

When i worked in tigertiger (massive nightclub, very expensive, you didnt get in unless you were wearing a suit) we had a 8ft chocolate fountain, and whatever was left over (or hidden) was allowed to go to the staff. Not good with all the free staff drinks

Know exactly what you mean about the Thorntons cafe - way too many nice temptations!!! And those free choccies on the counter - it would be rude not to - wouldn't it?

Indeed it would

Will definitely be going back to check on the toilets

But if I eat anything, will have it as a replacement for dinner

Or perhaps a whole days food
