"weightlossresources", exercise calories?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone else who uses weightlossresources to maintain has found that the extra calories added by exercise seem to been very high/perhaps too high?

In the past I didn't pay much attention to the calories I burned through exercise as I just used them to aid my weightloss and didn't eat them. Now that I am maintaining I've been counting them into my daily food intake, and it seems really high!

I'm on holiday in spain all of august, and I've been walking loads, for between 2 and 5 hours each day. That is adding hundreds of extra calories to my daily allowance, and I have been eating most of them (around 2300 a day), but now I'm worrying that as I'm here all month, I'll go home and find I've put loads of weight on!

I'm probably best to sneak off to the chemists and weigh myself to be sure, but my boyfriend thinks I'm being obsessive and shouldn't worry so keeps steering me away from the scales!!

WLR say you should eat at least half your exercise calories.

I too found them quite 'generous', but I really think a lot depends on how fit your are etc. It's impossible for them to get it really accurate without knowing your heatbeat whilst exercising.

I found it was better to experiment and find my own personal level whilst watching the scales. I don't use WLR anymore, but think it's a fab way of managing/losing weight even if the exercise calories are a little 'off' for some

Thanks for the reply
I think you're right about WLR not being able to be exactly right without knowing your personal circumstances. At this stage in my maintenance I think I still need to have the odd weigh in to reassure myself I'm getting it right!
I have been surprised by how much I seem to be able to eat now after so many years trying to restrict as much as possible (and often failing!).
