Thread: Dehumidifier

Hi All

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct forum, but I guess it is to do with health so will see what happens!

I need some advice if possible. Can anyone recommend a good dehumidifier to use in my Kitchen, Bathroom and Bedrooms? Have a mould situation going on in my house and have been told to invest in this but not sure what kind to go for? I've looked online and there's so many to choose from and all different prices but not sure where to start.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

I have a Swan one, the silver/grey one. Cost around £130 I think, it's a bit noisy, I don't know if that would apply to all. But when it's been on a good few hours and I go to empty the tank, I'm surprised by how much moisture it's sucked out of the air.

hiya, i was forced to get one of these, shortly after I moved into my bungalow. There was no visable damp/mould but lying in bed on a winter's night and feeling the mattress was damp was horrible, plus it took about 3 days for clothes to dry (before buying tumble dryer).

Asked the housing exec if they could get me a dehumidifier and heard nothing (what's new?) so bought one from argos value range at £79 which is dear to me. It packed up after a year, same thing happened with second one, got an ebac at £250 which packed up after 3 mos (not looking good here is it lol) the second ebac is still going but the good news is the council finally put me in a dry master which sits in the attic and only cost 1p a day to run whereas the dh was costing 2p an hour!

If you live in a council house it'd be worth asking about a dry master. A DH is a massive improvment though if a bit dear. only prob is you have to drag it from room to room and theyre quite heavy,
