    Selenium and nuts

Just catching up on Doctor, doctor.

They were talking about superfoods and this caught my eye.

They were talking about bazil nuts. Evidently we have half the amount of selenium that we need because we have changed the flour which we used to make bread.

One brazil nut gives us a 1/3 of the selenium we need a day Much better than taking a selenium supplement they say, (probably because it would be easy to overdose)

Selenium is important for our immune system's function, and the thyroid hormone metabolism and in reproduction. It is also prevents damage to cells and tissues.

Yep, I found out about this only recently! I am hypothyriod so I eat brazil nuts everyday. So important!

I am glad that I love eating them on their own. They are high in calories (good fats) and I also love cashews - so hard to resist.

I worry that I put on weight cos of the nuts. Silly, right?!
