    Advice about hair dye

I'm wanting peoples advice on dyin my hair red! I usually go to the hairdressers and have a full head colour red then pinky red magma foil streaks to make it quite bright - I have also dyed & bleached my hair loads of times at home. Anyway I cannot afford £50 to dye my hair at salon before my holiday so wanting to know from the (dyed) red heads out there the best products to use to get hair as red and possible (preferable permanent)?? Like I said I'm ok with pre-lightening etc coz I have medium/dark brown hair naturally

Thankyou in advance for your replies x

    Hi hun,

You can get lots of colours from boots, superdrug, bodycare etc...my friend used to always use Live xxl (in red) for bright red hair. There is lots of the shelfs to chose from. Or you could always use a crazy colour if you are pre lightening it first. They are semi permanent so they don't damage your hair and you can keep changing your colour. You could try ebay for these or a hairdressing suppliers. I know some new look stores used to stock a brand of these colours i think they were called 'starlight' or something similar as i used to use the red one under my fringe.

    Hope this helps

Have you tried a brand called special effects (SFX) ? Even though it's sold as a semi-perm like crazy colour, Stargazer, Diections & Manic panic - it has amazing staying power! I mean I had to actually bleach it out in the end!
The Reds & Pinks are the longest lasting
Only uk place I know that sells it is beeunique dot co dot uk (wish I could just write the link lol)

I know this is an old thread but hope you find this info useful!

hey, I'm currently a redhead lol.
I use swarzkopf (not sure if that's spelt right) it's called 'plum perfection' it's a lovely colour but i've found it does fade easily. Before that I used the Lloreal 'Intense Red' which is really good and the colour stuck really well
