Overcoming Mental Health Issues

I wasn't too sure of where to post this. I couldn't see a section about mental health - which is odd when you think about it. So many people with weight issues suffer from a wide variety of mental health illnesses. A subject close to my heart after struggling and dealing with my own mental health issues over the past 10 years.

Today I read a beautiful guest blog post on one of my favourite blogs, Fuller figure fuller bust, an amazing blog I would thoroughly recommend as I am a firm believer that well fitting undergarments are the foundation to a beautiful outfit! Anyway....

The post is about overcoming bulimia, anorexia and the mental issues associated with severe breast asymmetry.

My Body Acceptance Journey By Rachael Morgan | fullerfigurefullerbust

Even if these are issues you cannot relate to I would really recommend the read because its such a beautiful story of mental strength and triumph over personal demons.

As a trainee mental health nurse (who also has a history of mental health problems) I am always eager to read anything mental health related. I have bookmarked this to read when I am more awake!

That is a good idea, its quite long!

I am an Rmn with my own mental health issues, I also find reading things about mental health really interesting it's lives and experiences. Yes it's odd but Mental health isn't talked about enough and people are often ashamed to admit there difficulties. I find my mental health does really affect my weight and the reason that I've gained all this weight in the first place. Finding minimins and my slimming world group supportive although I find it hard to admit the true extent of my difficulties around food, with the support of slimming world previously I managed to overcome bulimia which then turned into straight forward binge eating disorder but now I'm ready to tackle the binges as in a much better frame of mind mentally.

I am also an RMN, seems to be a few of us on here :)

I work at a University as student mental health and wellbeing adviser

I also had my own mental health issues with postnatal depression after my 13 year old Daughter was born which was what led me to choose mental health as a career :)

It is strange that there is no mental health section of the website, I was also looking for one

I will have a read of the blog, thank you for sharing :)
