Hi all,

I've just been prescribed Orlistat (Xenical) today and was intending to start tomorrow. I have organised a meal plan for the week and have done an online shop which will arrive tomorrow. I'm a little concerned about side effects (as I'm sure most people are). Would it be better to eat more healthily for a few days before starting or just go straight in. I'm really keen to start but don't want to be put off because I get some side effects from eating badly the last couple of days (a friends birthday meal and although it was lots of fun... it was FAR from healthy!). Does that make sense?
Thanks in advance x

I think you'll be ok starting the tablets more or less straight away. What you mustn't do is do it the other way round -ie. don't eat a lot of fat within a couple of days of taking Orlistat, as it stays in your system.

Good luck! :) xx

I'm on day 4 now and haven't had any yet so assuming I'm safe from previous misdemeanors lol

Oh ok thanks.
I am really hoping for a decent loss (as I'm sure everyone is lol).

I'm sure you'll get there! What plan are you following? I'm a calorie counter myself, and it's taken me three years to lose almost 11 stone - slow and steady wins the race, lol. :) xx

I'm calorie counting and low fat (for obvious reasons). Having foods similar to those I would have with slimming world tbh as I enjoy my fruit and veg. Hardest thing for me is being organised with coursework, placement and my kids... hopefully it'll all be worth it if/when I graduate.

Hope it continues to go well teacup83. I just started Orlistat yesterday - so far so good. I'm also combining SW with low fat. TracyGWill - wow - fab determination. Well done xx

Hi Teacup, I've just started today after being prescribed them yesterday. I'm really nervous about being on them but fingers crossed it will go well? How are you doing so far? X

Hi Em,
Completed 2 weeks now. Not suffered from any side effects as on yet... well, I had some mild cramps in the first couple of days and a bit of wind but nothing terrible. I've lost 8lbs so far, I know I need to drink more to boost my losses but I really struggle to drink especially if on shift. I am getting better though. So will you be having your weigh in's on Thursdays? Keep me up to date on how you get on. Have a great first week!

That's an amazing loss so far hun, well done x
Yes, I guess that means Thursday is the official way in day, but I am terrible and tend to sneak on those scales before - but I will try my best to resist!
Well today, there hasn't been any scary poos as I thought there might be but hey ho, it was the first day! X

Thanks. I am aiming for at least 2lbs this week, although 2.5lbs will take me under 20st which will make me super happy.

Apparently it takes a few days for the pills to get into your system. Just avoid anything really fatty. Check the nutritional value for EVERYTHING... you'll be surprised.

Hey Hun, just wanted to let you know, 3lb off this week - considering I haven't made extreme changes I'm quite pleased
