Thanks guys. Still pretty chuffed with the result and had a pretty good weekend. Although very glad to be home, very sleep deprived and think I might be going to bed at 7pm tonight! Rather alot of wine was consumed on friday but things were more moderate on saturday. Food was pretty indulgent but not outlandish I don't think and there wasn't any snacking or anything and I only ate until I was satisfied rather than finishing things because they were there so hopefully it won't have been bad enough to mess up the rest of the week...

Having a fast day now, from 10am this morning, which feels ok although because I am so tired I think it might be a bit of a struggle later. Was thinking of trying to just survive on hot drinks but think I might have some prawn tom yum soup for tea. Will be interested to see how the starting the fast part through the day works out.

    Rough food account from last few days;

    Friday:
Breakfast: 1 slice toast, scrambled eggs and 1/4 tin baked beans (before leaving for ipswich)
Lunch (at my mum's): homemade lentil and vegetable soup and chunk of baguette
Dinner: homemade chicken and leek pie, sage and onion roast potatoes, sprouts and cauliflower, brocoli and leeks in cheese sauce. Very nice indeed
Others: several small handfuls of grapes
    1 amaretto coffee
    tiny sliver of chocolate gateux
    LOTS of sauvignon blanc
So an indulgent day but lots of "proper" food

    Saturday:
    Breakfast: egg and bacon sandwich
Lunch: blue cheese burger and chips at pub
Dinner: wasn't going to have any but me and OH met up with some friends for drinks and everyone ordered a meal or i ended up with a bowl of curly fries with cheese :0 Only ate about 1/3 of them though, OH happily demolished the rest (on top of his meal!)
Others: 1/2 an individual size tub of chocolate ice cream
    1 pint of beer
    1 large glass of wine
So less alcohol but very very naughty food choices. For one day its probably not terrible, especially as i only ate what i wanted of things. Probably...

    Sunday:
    Breakfast: Bacon and egg sandwich
    2 segments of chocolate orange
    Fast for rest of day

No, you aren't meant to on 5:2. The whole idea is that you eat normally and freely on the up days and only have to think about things and restrict yourself 2 days a week.

And the weekend was very different to my usual eating anyway as I was visitting my mum which I only do about twice a year. Usually I would be well within the recommended calorie range I believe.

Its still early days but so far I am quite enjoying it, and it does appear to be giving me actual losses at the moment which is quite a novelty!

Hey guys very quick update as I am still knackered from the weekend and did a double class at the gym (two hours - i must be utterly mad!). 10-10 went pretty well. I ended up having two youngs fish in butter sauce steaks with cabbage for dinner last night for 224 calories and apart from that I only used a few calories in a couple of cups of tea during the fast which is much less than when I do it for a whole day. I don't *think* I have compensated too much when I could eat again today, and apart from a couple of grapes mid morning just waited for lunch. Also having a pretty moderate sized dinner despite the fact that I accidentally made a huge bowl of pasta (lots of vegetables and quorn, not actually huge quantities of pasta). There was a cadburys caramel this afternoon but overall its been good. Its nice not to have to go a whole day without food I think the thing that I would need to keep an eye on is not getting too carried away with it and fasting more than i am meant to. I really really contemplated not bothering having any dinner when I came in from the gym and just having a shower and going to bed, that's very unlike me indeed.

So did you have breakfast on the day1 then fast from 10 so have your evening meal using the cals that you are allowed then skip breakfast the next morning? Then restart eating again with mid morning snack, lunch and dinner on the 2nd day?

Sorry for all the questions just a little unsure of how it works doing it for 24hour period rather than a day, it does sound good though. If I stick with it will defo give it a try - it doesn't sound like it would be as difficult and I doubt I would need to use the full 500 calories either doing it that way as you get one proper meal on 1st day plus a light one then 2 proper ones on the 2nd day?? That's pretty much it, Laura, yeah. I had breakfast at about 9am on sunday so from 10am sunday to 10am monday I had 500 calories to use on food only. I don't think there is any reason that this way wouldn't work as well as long as you aren't compensating more with food before and after the fast which is probably more likely than when on a totally different day. Now on my second split day fast - had breakfast and lunch today so will end fast with dinner tomorrow, which happens to be a meal out to watch the football. Not planning on having dinner tonight so thinking i might try and do a total fast, that way I don't have to worry about how many cups of tea I drink! We shall see. I might take some soup into work tomorrow incase I really need it tomorrow.

Sarah - today is mainly sore! I have really hurt my left hand somehow, i don't know whether its muscles or the joints but whenever i try to bend it its really quite painful and achey. I haven't bashed it or anything and never had anything similar. I am wondering if i somehow strained it at kettlebells this morning as it only became painful an hour or so later. Or maybe my head is just objecting to 3 hours spent in the gym in any one 14 hour period. I might have to be fairly brief in my replies til its better though, as typing definitely doesn't help.
