Atomic Pink's Trying To Be Mostly Primal food diary

Decided to formally jump on the bandwagon and start my simply filling food diary.

I tried out the plan for most of last week and really enjoyed it but have been away for the weekend being encouraged to be very naughty (it didn't take *that* much encouragement to be honest ) so tomorrow I will start the plan properly. I have been faffing with slimming world for the best part of a year but without much consistency in my losses or my ability to stick to plan (its possible these could be related... ) I don't go to group and my WW starter pack hasn't arrived yet so please let me know if I am doing anything wrong or getting the points values of things all muddled.

    Food plan for tomorrow;

    Porridge and frozen raspberries

Brown rice salad made with roasted onions, bns, rocket and prawns with a lime and chilli dressing

Chicken and morel stew, garlic and thyme roast potatoes and savoy cabbage.

I don't have skimmed milk for the porridge til I go shopping but I always make porridge with half water and half milk anyway so I reckon that probably counts.

I will use a little bit of light soya cream in the stew which should be 1 PP as its only 22 calories per 30g, and I will use 1 tsp of oil for the dressing with lunch and the other with the potatoes for dinner. Does that sound ok?

Any reccomendations of SF essentials in pick up in my shopping would be most appreciated.

I have had some of them in the cupboard since last weekend as I was so excited to be allowed them but can't quite bring myself to try them yet. Slimming world anti-bread products thinking still a little ingrained it seems. Maybe I will share one with the OH with the stew. That does sound very nice. Thanks for the idea!

Lunch changed slightly as i was very excited to find Asda have started selling samphire. Yum yum yum. So lunch was prawn, samphire and black rice warm salad with a basil, chilli and lime dressing. I can't see black rice on the simply filling list but I compared the nutritional values and its is lower in calories and higher in fibre than brown rice so I am counting it as free until I find out otherwise.

Atomic Pink's Trying To Be Mostly Primal food diary-riceprawnsandsamphiresalad.jpg

I went a bit mad in Asda and have stocked up on lots of interesting meat, fish and vegetables to try and keep myself on the straight and narrow this week. I have also made up some raspberry sugar free jelly with tinned raspberries for work as I am still a little unclear about which if any fat free yogurts count as free on simply filling.

Thanks! Samphire is a vegetable that grows right by the sea, mainly on cliffs. Its texture is a little bit like perfectly cooked asparagus - soft but with a slight bite to it, and its tastes sort of green, sweet and salty. Its the best vegetable in the world! I have only ever seen it in posh farmer's markets or waitrose before so very impressed with Asda with stocking it. I bought another pack to have with a mixed seafood spaghetti later in the week. Its only 1.12 which is rather a bargain.

I have lots of 0% greek yogurt in so thats ok. Especially as it can be had with tinned fruit. This is a huge novelty moving from SW.

Your foods seem very exciting! You can have Fat free or very low fat natural yoghurt or low fat from-age frais but no low fat flavoured yoghurts, they need to be pointed.
Best of luck with SF. It is a great plan x

I am quite shocked at how many people have read my ramblings today - thanks for the help folks.

I have had a good on plan day I also hope I have started a samphire trend.

    Monday's food round-up
Breakfast : Porridge and frozen raspberries

Lunch: Black rice salad with prawns and samphire

Dinner: Chicken and morrel stew with roasted new potatoes, purple sprouting brocoli and half a petit pain (thanks for the recommendation sarah and becktoria - it was yum!) 1 PP for WW creme fraise in sauce

    Snacks:
    1 banana
    1 blood orange
1 crumpet with extra light laughiing cow (I *think* crumpets are free - right?)
1 sugar free jelly with 15g light squirty cream 1 PP
Some carrot sticks and 2 tbsp leftover chickpea curry to prevent worse snackage before dinner.

So 2 PP from 49 weeklies used so far.

I have really enjoyed today's food and hadn't noticed til typing this up that I haven't really had any cheese! This is quite amazing for me. I seem to have eaten quite alot but its all pretty good stuff so I don't think I am going to worry about cutting down quantities just yet.

I have got dinner out at my dad's tomorrow and I have no idea what he is cooking or how far I will have to dip into my weeklies to cover it but I don't have much planned this week so there should be enough to cover that.

Here's a picture of my dinner, it looks a bit gloopy in the picture but was very tasty. My husband's response to the first bite was "when are we next having this?", I think that means he liked it!

I forgot to add - my weigh in was this morning and somehow despite what felt like a very naughty weekend of bacon sandwiches, cheesey mashed potato, chicken pie and more wine than I want to think about i managed a STS. I am now praying it doesn't catch up with me next week.

I also went for my first ever run this afternoon. Only just over 15 minutes and with intervals of walking inbetween but I felt like snacking on cheese so decided to go for a run instead :0 This is very unlike me. Back to work tomorrow though so my cheese avoidance strategies are going to have to be a bit less inventive! I am not sure my boss would appreciate it if every time I wanted to snack during the day I abandoned my work and ran round the block...
