hi all ,
im going primal after a weight loss boost on slim and save . have done just about every diet out there over the years and maintained for along time post ll 5 years ago but gained a whole big mess of weight whilst having my 2nd child and have spent 2 years now gradually loosing the weight bit by bit . the ss gave me a big kick up the but and got almost 2 stone off so im at a decent enough size to start training again soon , im going on my oh cruise ship in 2 and a half weeks so wanted to make the switch now as i feel i can stay reasonable well enough on track on board and have the energy to run while i have the free time to do it .so yesterday was a bit of a transition day between the 2 and today was my 1st proper primal/paleo day , im guessing it wont be particularly hard as im already in ketosis from sands so here goes , if you see anything in my diet not looking too good please feel free to comment , ill appreciate all the advise i can get , ive done so much reading on this and it just makes sense to me ......
so today
br; left over paleo pancake with a little almond butter and half a banana on top, boiled egg.
lunch; salad with avacado and king prawns with lemon and olive oil
dinner;slow cooked leg of lamb with carrot , sweet potato and corgette. and served with mashed carrot and turnip.

snack 10 almonds and an apple
hope this looks ok
excersize 2.5 miles of hard core stomping up and down the hills on the school run.

I don't really think ketosis is a massive part of paleo (sure someone will correct me) it's more healthy eating for life x x
 
day 2
feeling much better than i have of late , im waiting with baited breath how the tummy develops now im eating full on 'real ' food ' again , ive had such bad tummy problems in the past , been hospitalized with it twice because the pain was literally unbearable , tests up and down the whazoo with cameas down my throat and the lot , to be told its common to have non specific abdominal pain and basically learn to live with it unless i want to subject myself to even more invasive testing . the only time im pretty ok is when im doing tfr so im hoping with all the research ive uncovered regarding wheat/gluten ect and the massive problems it can cause will prove to be true and if following the primal/ paleo type template will possibly help .... fingers crossed xxx feel like ive eaten allot today but have been hungry and just small helpings at each meal times except at dinner time tonight where i had a large salad with my meal.
so food today
breakfast , almond pancake with nut butter and banana, small smoothie
snack ,avacado and king prawns
lunch, some mussels and prawns from mixed seafood pack but realised couldnt have the crab sticks !! naked bar
snack (paleo friendly )blackberry/banana muffin
dinner rib eye steak , mushrooms and romaine salad
greak yoghurt with peach and blackberries in . so allot of food :eek: but pretty primal . xx
 
omg ! 1 lb off ... result , cant believe it as i hoped to sts after coming of a vlcd but expected to gain a little initially , so to loose a lb after 2 days , im sooooooo happy :0) aand somewhat relieved i must say :0D
roll on today xx
 
day 3
brekki , boiled egg and paleo pal pancakes with nut butter and strawberies/blackberries on top and teaspoon of thick cream .
snack ,pear and naked bar (2 hours apart )
lunch , left over lamb and mashed root veg from monday night .
snack, paleo friendly muffin with nut butter and cream
dinner , cold left over rib eye steak from yesterday , boiled egg. small clementine.

random mix today been trying to use up left overs and was to tired and drained after feeding kids , dance class run, baths ect to make anything else to go with the steak.
have prepped ingredients in slow cooker for tomorrow for thai red chicken curry ,mmmmmm food like that was always a treat or forbidden on diets , cant wait to have it with cauliflour rice.

brekki , scrambled duck egg & spoilt pig bacon
lunch , salad with olives, stuffed chillis ,avacado and bacon

snack , left over paleo pancake with banana , nut butter and cream

dinner cauliflower rice with red thai curry .good day over all , feeling amazing , bit headachy this morning but energy is coming in leaps and bounds, soooo glad i made the swap , 1.5 lb down in 4 days and feelinng great
. RESULT !!
 
day 5
feeling AMAZING !! lots and lots of energy compared to recently ... well for as long as i can remember .
today foods getting less , guess the initial hunger is subsiding loads .
brekki , left over banana and blackberry muffing ( primal recipie) with nut butter , banana and teaspoon of cream. coffee
lunch, left over thai red curry and cauliflower rice .
snack 25 grams mixed nuts and cherries (seperate times)
dinner will be , free range roast chicken , baked sweet potato and will do some asparagus i think .
 
really need to get excersizing .......
 
day 6
hunger definately abating , but really enjoying my food .
brekki , paleo pancakes , nut butter and banana , drizzle of agave. coffee with cream
lunch, mussels and king prawns in a tomato broth
dinner , chicken ceasar salad (no croutons but avacado )
snack 3 plums throughout day .
feeling really good and realy bright x
 
day 7
another great day mood wise, mmmm very telling :0) no ups and downs ....
food today , woke up well hungry so ,
brekki , left over pancake with nut butter/ banana and omelet
lunch, went to carvery up the road and had slice of turkey , ham and beef with cauliflower , broccoly and carrots , left allot as was full v , quickly
dinner , black farmer sausages , egg and tomato.

snacks 2 plums and a paleo muffin with strawberries
 
week 1 done onto day 8 , got a right nasty sore throat and fever. feeling poo :0( nice thing though is that normally it would be an excuse to go crazy and eat lots of crap, but wasnt hungry so just snacked on bits and bobs but would have been happy to go without but was a bit scared id get really hungry and go mad .

brekki , boiled duck egg and greek yoghurt with chopped pear
lunch , few almonds , apple and a coffee
dinner , cold black farmers sausage and left over chicken
through day , left over paleo blackberry muffin with nut butter and tspon cream

just made batch of blue berry and banana muffins so just had to have the smallest one :eek: naughty !!! lol
 
day 9 , feeling fab ,
Seem to have kicked the flu like symptoms I had yesterday , just a bit of a sore throat left .
been discussing paleo/ primal living with hubbie on the phone and he seems quite keen to join me in my journey so that will be great .
anyway day 9 food .
brekki, left over black farmers sausage and cold boiled egg
lunch , some ham , piece of banana coconut bread with nut butter and hald sliced banana.
dinner,steak, garlic mushrooms and sweet potato wedges followed by a few grapes.
 
Wow thats an amazing loss for him , im sure my hubbie will have it drop off him aswell , he does as long as he commits to something , so not fair! :0)

Im loving the primal way , need to be a bit stricter i think but right now this is working fine for me , dont want to pile on the pounds when i go away to the cruise next week so im keeping it relaxed so that i can follow it closely on board.
not a great day food wise , very low on the actual meal front and light on the veggies but no great hunger to motivate me to cook a decent meal for myself.Wll try harder tomorrow:0)
So day 10
brekki , paleo banana and blueberry muffin with nut butter and half sliced banana, coffee.
lunch , apple and some almonds
snack, naked bar
dinner , some roast chicken and tiny taste of gratin potatoes (literally a teaspoon taste)
snack , some grapes and macadamia nuts.

havent posted for a few days been so busy .
things were going great guns despite a cold/flu brewing , sons 2nd bday today so had family over yesterday and sister made an amazing birthday cake . decided to have a piece as a treat but OH MY GOD wish i didnt , felt cruddy in my tum last night and well this morning hmmm wont go into lots of detail but suffice to say !!! so had a crampy tum all day on top of chest pain and snots grrrr feel awefull and cant wait to get this piece of cake out of my system .
positive is though that ive possibly found the problem with my tummy as ive had absolutely no issues sinse starting this and suddenly after the wheat/ sugar dairy ect in the cake i have had such a nasty reaction , might be coincidence but i suspect not ! dont think its the dairy so much as ive had cream and been fine but i fully intend to avoid wheat completely now , i cant believe just how poorly its suddenly made me feel , although i know this colds made me feel uegh too.
anyway was right back to it today , mind saying that other than the cake ive stuck to primal all the time .
but today
brekki , left over paleo pancake , cashew butter , cream and banana, coffee
lunch , left over home made tandori lamb with salad and some raita
snack ,nuts and dried cranberries
dinner , 2 bratwurst and some melon :0D random i know

back from the ship last week been finding my feet at work and home again. proud to say that apart from a pizza lunch (ouch ... pain !!) and some daily stella(((blush )))) i kept to the paleo/primal priciples , obviously i dont know what they use to cook the food in on the ship but i ate fresh food , salads and plenty of meat . no deprivation and no craving . did manage to gain 5 lb of laying around stella drinking blub but thats a fraction of what i usually gain when on the ship for 2 weeks . i just felt great , why mess with that .
ive lost 1.8 lb since coming home , the only real changes are im cooking the food and not drinking my daily holiday beer . so feeling amazing and sooo gratefull i stumbled on this way of life .. LOVE IT !!!

I think a 5lb cruise gain is great as I'm sure many people on cruises gain much more! Good on you for keeping mostly to foods you know are right for you, I think primal/paleo is amazing as once we know how good we CAN feel, the temptation to stray to foods we know will make us feel bad is so much lessened. :)
 
Well day 1 minus o.h and kids so lazy start to the day .
brekki is , home baked ham omelet and left over slice of paleo banana bread with ut butter and banana.
for lunch at work lunch ive made a coconut king prawn and avacado salad , also have last slice of banana bread with me for snack if needed.
will need to shop this afternoon after work , might look for some lamb .
ended up having a rib eye streak with salad and half a baked sweet potato , going to save the other half for tomorrow lunch x
