Primal and proud

Have decided to start a diary so that I can look back on my progress :D

I did cambridge for 2 weeks and lost 1 stone and then switched straight on to primal and have so far lost a further 11bs

I am no longer ruled by the scales though and only weigh once a fortnight at boots as I have thrown out my own set, its quite freeing after being a daily weigher.

I am also in training for The Great North Run on September 15th, I did C25K back in 2011 but let it all slip, so I spent the last 6 weeks redoing it (should take 9 weeks but I skipped ahead on a few runs as I am on a tight schedule lol)
I started my beginners half marathon training on monday and its pretty intense

Monday- Kettlebells and stretching
Tuesday- Run
Wednesday- Run
Thursday- Run and Kettlebells
Friday- Rest Day
Saturday- Kettlebells
Sunday- Run

The runs are varying distances and increase each week, This week is 3 miles/ 2 miles/ 3 miles/ 4 miles.

I am new to the kettlebells and am actually starting today as I only got mine last night lol, On monday and Tuesday I used 1.5kg dumbells instead.

I am the only one in the house that is fully primal but my Husband and 3 children are slowly coming round and certainly eat more primal than SAD.

Yesterdays food was

530am - Out for a 2.5 mile run (bit further than needed but it was easier to do the full route)

Breakfast- 4 rashers of grilled bacon with 2 scrambled eggs (with cream and butter)

Lunch- Leftover Primal Lamb "lasagne"

Snack- Full fat greek yogurt with a dash of maple syrup ( dont usually snack but DH was working late and I wanted to eat with him when I got home)

Dinner- Slow cooked pork loin with celeriac dauphinoise and buttered savoy cabbage

Going to try and enjoy the peace today as my eldest breaks up from school today for half term and my twins are only at preschool for 2.5 hours tomorrow so not going to have any time to myself for the next week lol

Today will be

530am- Out for a 3.2 mile run

Breakfast- 4 Rashers bacon with 2 scrambled eggs (with cream and butter)

Lunch- Leftover Primal lamb "lasagne"

Dinner- Pulled Pork, Homemade coleslaw and salad

The pork shoulder is rubbed with spices and has been in the slow cooker since 7am and is just started to smell nice, Pulled pork has become a firm primal favourite in the household and the kids were very excited when they saw it this morning lol.

I am just going to have a bit of a chill out and then I am going to do my first kettlebell workout

Just did my first kettlebell session and I can see why it works!

The programme I was doing was 3 rounds of 8 exercises but I only did 2 rounds (thanks to the advice of Plumfoodie :D) as I need to be able to walk tomorrow and dont want to jeopardise my running programme, I have a total rest day tomorrow and then will do the full 3 rounds on saturday.

Today is my Rest day (Thank Goodness!)
I ache all over today but I know thats a good sign :D

Gonna enjoy 2 hours of quality time with my eldest today while the twins are in playgroup, Going to go to the library and let him choose some new books and then maybe hit the park if the weather stays dry.

Todays food will be

Breakfast- Chorizo scrambled eggs with cream and butter

Lunch- Roasted belly pork
followed by Full fat greek yogurt with a dash of maple syrup

Dinner- Tuna mayo salad

Wow I cant believe how achey I am!
I am going to have to be careful at work tonight but as its the start of half term I have a feeling its going to be pretty busy!

May just do two rounds again tomorrow as Sunday is my longest run to date and I really dont want to injure myself by pushing it too much too soon with the kettlebells!

DH is trying to go primal but finds food at work hard as he doesnt really have a lunch break and just eats at his desk so I am going to look into making him some muffins to take and snack on (especially good when everyone else in the office are eating cakes and junk!) It will also give me something to do with the kids to stop them getting bored during half term!

Well another day and I am able to walk alot better today lol, still a bit stiff and achey but nowhere near as bad!

No running today, am due to do kettlebells again but will see as dont want to run my run tomorrow.

Am off to costco today to stock up on meat for the next few weeks :D

Food today will be

Breakfast- Full fat greek yogurt with a dash of maple syrup and a handful of cashew nuts

Lunch- Tuna mayo salad

Dinner- Slow cooked pork ribs and salad

Found your diary - good to see your posts! :D

Food is looking great. Sometimes I have to eat at my desk but I find paleo leftovers are reasonably good cold so usually pack up a bit of whatever was for dinner with extra veggies or salad for lunch. Or a flask is good if he wants to take something hot.

Usually the first kettlebelll sesh is the one that leaves people the sorest and after that it's not so bad, but if you're worried you could build things up by only doing one round, or two but with fewer reps. The only way your body will get used to it is if you keep at it! :D

Thank you x

Yeah I would do the same but he is reluctant to give up his lunch wrap lol, Not going to push him though he is an adult and can sort himself out ;)
Am goint to leave the kettlebells today as I have been out all morning and have work in a few hours but will do a couple of rounds tomorrow instead I promise.

Been to Costco,Ikea and tesco and now have a fully stocked fridge and freezer again :D
I got Pork shoulder, pork loin, chicken mini fillets, leg of lamb, salmon, belly pork strips, lamb mince, whole chicken, pork ribs, steak and bacon so plenty of lovely meals to be had in the next couple of weeks :D

Got home and made myself some lovely roasted ribs and salad and will have a tuna salad just before I go to work.

Just been and done my first ever 4 mile run :D
I cant believe that 7 weeks ago I struggled to run for 60 seconds and now I am running 4 miles!

Todays food will be

6am out for a 4 mile run

Breakfast- 4 rashers grilled bacon and 1 egg scrambled with butter and cream and a homemade smoothie (hazelnut milk, full fat greek yog, apple, banana and a dash of maple syrup)

Lunch- At work so wont be until about 4pm but will be free so cant complain ;) will have either a cheeseburger (gluten free) with no bun and a salad or a chicken salad I think

Dinner- Chicken fajitas without the wraps

Woohoo - go you with the 4 mile run. Excellent stuff!

Can I ask what you stock up on from ikea? We love their frozen salmon and always have some squirrelled away but it's a 1 hr+ drive to them and Costco so we try to organise doing this every 3-4 months only. Costco used to do enormous cans of macadamia nuts but have not had them the last couple of visits. :(

If you OH decides he does want to try a more primal lunch (of his own accord) I think there are primal wraps you can make. Beware the mostly egg-based ones though as unsurprisingly they taste mostly like egg!

Food is looking delicious! Do you work shifts then? x

Sorry didn't get food from ikea lol

Yeah my 4 miler was pretty good only felt it in the last half mile and that was because it was uphill!

Our costco is an hour away too so we try to go every 3-4 weeks too :)

I might try out some wrap recipes on him and the kids next week ;)

Yeah im a waitress so work evenings and weekends but its good exercise so works well lol xx

Ahh. The free meals make sense now. :)

You should try the ikea salmon sometime, it's dead tasty - I much prefer it to the Costco one!

If you find a good wrap recipe please report back; I never found one that was tasty and also easy to wrap without it cracking. x

Got an early finish as work was dead so am going to enjoy the sunshine and then do some kettlebells :D

Have seen a few wrap recipes on pin terest so will try experimenting in the week and let you know, im not keen on the salmon but the kids love it so I buy it for them x

My manager still let me have lunch even though I was finishing early so I have a bunless burger and salad was lovely but am pretty stuffed lol.

Kettlebells done :D

Did all 3 rounds today too! Hopefully I wont ache as badly this time because I have a 10 hour shift ahead of me tomorrow

DH is making paleo cherry almond upside down cakes to have after dinner :D

cherry cake sounds delicious. Enjoy. Am green with envy both at the cake and having a OH who can cook. :D

Woot - well done on your 3 rounds! I do love a good cherry almond upside-down cake, yum yum!
