Going Primal properly this time!

Decided to create a diary where I can focus on my primal journey. Some may remember I tried it before and it was searching for relief from digestive health issues that lead me to paleo/primal and I loved it but found it hard to stick to.

This time I'm in a different mindset, I'm on a quest for health because I have decided to put me first. I deserve to feel a lot better than I do.

The last 3 days I have been following primal and loving it. Have had a bit of sugar/carb withdrawal which has been difficult but I've decided to up my good carbs a bit until I get used to it all.

I have just made a primal dinner for my mum and hubby and mum was raving about it. I did courgette noodles for the first time and they are lush. Will totally replace any pasta need as they are much nicer and you don't feel heavy afterwards! I'm just so excited that heath food can taste good and please others normally I have tried to combine other people's wishes or presumed they would want other less healthy food. This time I'm just changing the way the house runs. Hubby is not 100% on board as he is a bread fiend but if he wants it fine, I can resist and find alternatives.

We do have a few things in the cupboard to use up but I'm not going to be replacing them. Rice I am going to allow myself on occasion as it seemed fine last time and a bit of dairy. We are on holiday next week but I'm going to try and work out how to live this even when on holiday, and if I make it 50% that's a start!

Feeling very positive :)

Thanks :) I'm looking forward to seeing what life will be like without this weight, but more importantly feeling healthy!

So today has been good so far. I've said no to biscuits and a tea cake whilst out and at lunch I went and got a turkey and ham salad whilst everyone else had junk. Had a green juice and some fruit for breakfast. Snack of cheese and ham and a chicken thigh.

Tonight we are going out to a Harvester so should be Ok.

I am sticking to protein and veg mainly and a bit of dairy and hoping that whilst eating out that is enough as you never know how things are cooked etc. Any tips one a ring out would be great but I guess keeping to the basic principles is more important and makes it doable. I want this to be doable and just feel like normal life :)

I'm also trying to think low carb to help with the weight loss and although I'm not counting carbs or calories I think that will help. I do need to keep up the good fats though as I think that was why I have been hungry today.

4 days and feeling healthier and a bit thinner :)

I was hungry, but its stange because I hadn't felt that hungry the other days? also think that having xomething more substantial than a juice wiukdnhave been better as I was hungry when I woke up.

Do you think younhave to count carbs for weight loss nor should I just see how it goes?

Thanks :) didn't know that. Will see how I go. I think if I had to start counting it would feel like a diet and not healthy living for life.

Currently sitting in harvester whilst the others eat their desserts and I'm satisfied on what I had. Shared a grill platter with chicken, ribs and gammon steak with salad. Yum. I guess the glazes may have had dodgy stuff in but I'm pretty pleased with my choices, and I genuinely don't feel tempted by the pudding. I'm hoping this may be a natural thing once you cut out a lot of the carbs and processed stuff. :)

Back from a fab holiday, and getting ready to primal up! A new book called The Primal Primer should arrive today which I have got for my birthday next week, my friend showed me it and it looks good and has some staple basic recipes in. We are going to be doing it together which is nice. Today I'm starting to limit the carbs as I plan to stay pretty low carb for weight loss. I'm also going to make a food plan and go shopping later to a new organic supermarket I've found. I'm not going to pressure myself with organic etc all the time but will try and I corporate what I can afford.

Frugal ideas for a student budget would be most helpful. Currently I'm thinking lots of chicken thighs/legs in the slow cooker and mince dishes but don't want to get bored!

Off to meal plan :)

Beef cheek/ beef ox tail are cheap options in the pressure cooker :) with some carrots/ squash/ etc with added greens/ cabbage .. Think Irish stew with out the potatoes :)

Thanks. Never cooked those before will have to be brave and try it! Do you think it has to be a pressure cooker? I don't have one. Would a slow cooker work?

Yes prob ok in slow cooker too :). I just prefer the pressure cooker

Ok thanks :)

Book has come and the recipes look lush and mostly very easy! Also the organic supermarket was good, although Sainsburys do nice organic fruit and veg a bit cheaper in most cases so may not use it much. But treated myself to some raw sauerkraut and also a bag on homemade kale chips which were only kale, himalayan salt and chilli flakes.

Looking forward to getting more into this woe. My trolley on sainsbury never looked so healthy and it was quicker because I only needed a couple of aisles! We also bought a couple of grow bags and some seeds to grow our own veggies :) hoping that will save us some money and be fun way to spend time outdoors.

Saturday night I tried the sauerkraut I bought and spent all of Sunday on the loo pretty much! Felt so ill. Still not right. Google it and I'm pretty sure it was the kraut! Said it can cause something called die off if you have lots of bad bugs in your digestive system. ..well mine must have been really bad!! Still took it easy and stuck to plan even though I quite fancied a bit of dry toast yesterday.

So yesterday I had 3 sausages, several ginger teas and scrambled egg with mushrooms and spinach.

Today I've had cucumber, olives and a sausage for breakfast (it was already cooked so easy to grab). A green juice for lunch and I've had a cold chicken thigh as a snack. Not fancied huge meals as I'm not feeling well.

I'm focusing on low carb and the scales have dropped already since I started, obviously the illness will have something to do with it but hope to continue in the right direction.

Tomorrow is first day back at college, hoping to use their salad bar for lunch but take some fish with me. Also have to plan a breakfast. Might try and make a paleo granola over the weekend and the thought of eggs each day or meat is a bit much at the moment.
